SXU Baseball Earns No. 5 Seed in Lawrenceville Bracket

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Saint Xavier University baseball team (31-22/20-12 CCAC) claimed the No. 5 seed in the Lawrenceville (Ga.) Bracket, one of 10 brackets, in the NAIA Opening Round that begins on Monday, May 12. The Cougars with play No. 4 Talladega College (Ala.) with the winner taking on host and top-seeded Georgia Gwinnett College. On the other side of the bracket, No. 2 Keiser University (Fla.) will face No. 3 University of Houston-Victoria (Texas).
  • SXU earned an automatic bid after going undefeated and winning the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Tournament. This will be the third time that Saint Xavier has been in the Lawrenceville Bracket, traveling there in 2019 and 2023.
  • Talladega earned an automatic berth into the tournament after winning the HBCU Athletic Conference regular season and tournament titles. They enter the tournament with a 42-12 overall record.
  • Georgia Gwinnett enters the tournament as the No. 2 overall team in the NAIA, earning an automatic bid as a host site, and they won the Continental Athletic Conference (Independents) tournament championship. The Grizzlies carry an overall record of 49-4.
  • Keiser earned an at-large bid out of The Sun Conference, finishing runners-up in the tournament championship. KU sports a 35-15 record on the season.
  • Houston-Victoria claimed an at-large bid as well out of the Red River States Conference, losing in the semifinals of their tournament. The Jaguars were No. 14 in the final Top 25 NAIA Coaches Poll and are 38-15 so far in 2025.
No. 5 seed Saint Xavier (31-22/20-12 CCAC) will being play in the Lawrenceville (Ga.) in the NAIA Opening Round at 10:00 am central against No. 4 Talladega on Monday, May 12 in Lawrenceville, Ga.
