Mobile, Ala. – Sophomore catcher Natalie Johnson (Bourbonnais, Ill./Grand Valley State/Bradley-Bourbonnais) went 1-for-3 with two RBI and a triple, while sophomore pitcher Lily Strand (Evergreen Park, Ill./Saint Louis/Evergreen Park) allowed just one run with four strikeouts in a 6-1 victory Saint Xavier University softball (14-5/0-0 CCAC) in game one of their doubleheader with No. 22 ranked University of Mobile Tuesday afternoon in their final series on their Spring Trip in Alabama. Junior outfielder Fiona Crane (Evergreen Park, Ill./Northern Illinois/Mother McAuley) helped set the table for the Cougar offense from the lead-off spot, collecting two hits, including a triple, in four at-bats and scoring two runs. SXU could not carry the momentum into game two as they were shutout for the first time in 2025, falling by a score of 3-0 to the Rams.

Game One:

• Junior outfielder Haley Matlock (Indianapolis, Ind./Southport) went 3-for-3 with a run scored.
• Junior infielder Mallory O'Connor (Bourbonnais, Ill./Olivet Nazarene/Bishop McNamara) was 2-for-4 with a double.
• Freshman infielder Danielle Goodman (Poplar Grove, lll./North Grove) finished 1-for-2 with a double.
• Junior infielder Kaitlyn Wright (Chicago, Ill./Marist) did not record an official at-bat as she had two sacrifice bunt and a sac fly RBI.
• Strand's final line score was 7.0 innings pitched, eight hits surrendered, one earned run, two walks and four strikeouts to push her record to 5-3 in the circle.
• Mobile took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the 1^st on an RBI fielder's choice.
• Wright tied the game in the next half inning with a sacrifice fly.
• In the top of the 3^rd, Crane hit an infield single after Goodman reached base on a double. Both players scored on a throwing error to put SXU up 3-1.
• Johnson lined an RBI triple to left field to extend the lead to 4-1 in the top of the 4^th and she drove in another run in the top of the 6^th on an RBI groundout.
• Sophomore infielder Aubrey Wroble (Crown Point, Ind./Crown Point) capped the scoring when she drove in Crane on a sac fly in the top of the 7^th.

Game Two:

• Wroble was 1-for-3 with a stolen base.
• Wright had a hit in two at-bats, as did Goodman.
• sophomore pitcher Hailey Wesner (Oak Forest, Ill./Oak Forest) suffered her first loss in the circle this season (5-1) after tossing a complete game. She logged 6.0 innings with seven hits, three runs (two earned), two walks and three strikeouts.
• UM broke a scoreless tie in the bottom of the 3^rd with an RBI single.
• The Rams added two more runs in the bottom of the 5^th on an RBI double and an RBI base hit to cap the scoring.

Saint Xavier (14-5/0-0 CCAC) travels to Livonia, Mich. for a doubleheader with No. 10 Madonna University of Wednesday, March 19. Game one is scheduled for an 11:00 am central first pitch.
