La Crosse, Wis. – Redshirt sophomore infielder
Jazmyn Casas (Berwyn, Ill./Illinois-Chicago/Taft) collected four home runs and 10 RBI in a doubleheader sweep on Tuesday, and she finished 2-for-4 in the series finale to help No. 23 ranked Saint Xavier University softball (31-10/20-1 CCAC) win two of three games against Viterbo University (Wis.) in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) play in La Crosse, Wis. Casas homered twice with five RBI in game one for a 7-1 victory. She belted two more home runs, again driving in five runs, in a 22-2 triumph in game two. The 22 runs scored by the Cougar offense tied for the fourth most in single-game team history when they plated 22 runs at Trinity Christian College (Ill.) on April 9, 1996, and also against Trinity Christian on April 14, 1996. Fiona Crane (Evergreen Park, Ill./Northern Illinois/Mother McAuley) smacked a base-clearing triple, however back-to-back home runs by the V-Hawks with two outs in the bottom of the 6
th defeated SXU by a score of 9-6, ending their 20-game winning streak, Wednesday afternoon.
Casas is the first player in program history to hit multiple home runs in consecutive games, and the first to hit four home runs in one day. She is also the first player to homer more than once in the same inning. Former NAIA All-American Aly Kelley (2005-08) holds the single-game home run record with three at against Olivet Nazarene University (Ill.) on May 3, 2008, in the CCAC Tournament Championship. Casas joins 2006 NAIA Softball Player of the Year, and SXU Hall-of-Famer, Colleen Kilduff (2003-06) as the only players with multiple home run games in the same season. Kilduff had three multi-homer games on April 11, April 18 and April 25 her senior season. Casas now has 10 home runs in 2026, becoming just the sixth player in school history to hit 10 or more home runs in a season, and it's the eighth time is has happened overall, with Kilduff doing so three times (2004-06). Casas also has driven in 67 runs, second-most in single-season history for Saint Xavier behind Kilduff's 82 RBI in 2006.
Crane broke her own team record for stolen bases in a season, swiping four on Tuesday, giving her 75 stolen bases on 80 attempts so far in the 2026 campaign. She collected 71 steals on 73 attempts in 2025.
Game One:
- Casas finished 3-for-3 with a walk.
- Senior outfielder Haley Matlock (Indianapolis, Ind./Southport) tallied three hits in four at-bats with three RBI, two doubles, a run scored and a stolen base.
- Crane went 2-for-5 with a pair of runs and a steal.
- Junior infielder Aubrey Wroble (Crown Point, Ind./Crown Point) had a hit, a run scored and a stolen base after going 1-for-4.
- Junior pitcher Lily Strand (Evergreen Park, Ill./St. Louis/Evergreen Park) established a new career high in strikeouts, collecting 13, as she went the distance: 7.0 innings, two hits, one run (unearned) and three walks to move her record to 15-5 in the circle.
- Casas hit an RBI single in the top of the 1st for an early 1-0 advantage.
- VU tied the game in the bottom of the 3rd off a Cougar error.
- Casas untied the game with a solo home run in the top of the 4th.
- In the top of the 6th, Matlock roped a two-run single and Casas launched a three-run home run.
Game Two:
- Wroble and Matlock tied the single-game team record for runs scored with four apiece. Wroble was 4-for-4 with five stolen bases and a walk. Matlock went 3-for-3 with three RBI, three steals and two walks.
- Casas scored three times and she added a walk.
- Sophomore outfielder Natalie Gomez (Oak Forest, Ill./Lewis/Tinley Park) recorded three RBI, going 2-for-4 with a triple, a walk and a run scored.
- Sophomore pitcher Payton Antkiewicz (Dyer, Ind./Hanover Central) came away with the victory (12-3) after she pitched 5.0 innings with three hits, two earned runs, three walks and posting five strikeouts.
- In the top of the 1st, senior infielder Mallory O'Connor (Bourbonnais, Ill./Olivet Nazarene/Bishop McNamara) drew a bases-loaded walk, sophomore designated player Isabelle Poortenga (Dyer, Ind./Lewis/Lake Central) hit an RBI single, and sophomore infielder Danielle Goodman (Poplar Grove, Ill./North Boone) and Gomez each walked with the bases loaded.
- SXU extended its lead to 14-0 with 10 runs in the top of the 2nd. Wroble snagged three steals, including of home, Casas hit a two-run home run, Goodman lined an RBI double, senior catcher Morgan Natanek (Palos Heights, Ill./Stagg) drove in a run on an RBI groundout, Gomez and Matlock each had RBI base hits, and Casas capped the inning with a three-run homer.
- Viterbo scored twice in the bottom of the 2nd on an RBI single and an RBI double.
- Another rally, a seven-run frame, made the score 21-2 in the top of the 3rd. Gomez legged out an RBI triple, Matlock smacked a two-run base hit, junior infielder Yalitza Lovan (Pleasant Hill, Iowa/Dowling Catholic) slugged a two-run double, junior outfielder Jaelyn Wiers (Morris, Ill./Bethel/Kankakee/Morris) picked up an RBI on a groundout, and senior infielder Emily Bickett (Plainfield, Ill./South Suburban/Morton/Plainfield South) laced an RBI single.
- Freshman infielder Sienna Antkiewicz (Dyer, Ind./Hanover Central) capped the scoring in the top of the 4th when she drove in a run on a fielder's choice.
Game Three:
- Crane finished 1-for-3.
- Matlock and Casas each went 2-for-4, respectively, with Matlock adding a stolen base.
- O'Connor was 2-for-3 with a run scored and a walk.
- Lovan tripled with two RBI, going 1-for-4.
- Strand (15-6) suffered the loss, throwing 6.0 innings with nine hits, eight earned runs, seven walks and three strikeouts.
- Antkiewicz allowed the game-tying home run in relief.
- Crane clubbed a three-run triple in the top of the 2nd.
- The V-Hawks responded with a two-run base hit in the bottom half of the inning. They tied the game in the bottom of the 4th on an RBI single.
- Lovan drove in two runs with her first triple of the season in the top of the 5th.
- VU re-tied the game in the home half of the frame with a sacrifice fly and an RBI base hit.
- Wroble hit a sac fly in the top of the 6th.
- With two outs in the bottom of the 6th, Antkiewicz came in for the save but she gave up a go-ahead three-run home run. Strand re-entered the game and Viterbo hit another home run.
Saint Xavier (31-10/20-1 CCAC) begins a three-game series with University of St. Francis (Ill.) starting on Friday, April 17 at 2:30 in Joliet, Ill. The series concludes with a doubleheader at the SXU Softball Field on Saturday, April 18, at 12:00 pm. The Cougars will celebrate 'Senior Day' between the games one and two.
