Alston joins the Cougars after being the Athletic Director for Stillman College in Tuscaloosa, Ala. Since 2017. Before taking over as AD for the Tigers, Alston was an assistant men’s basketball coach at Grambling State University (La.) for three years from 2014-17.

Alston was the District Assistant Athletic Director for the District of Columbia Public Schools from 2013-14. He was an assistant men’s basketball coach at Elizabeth City State University (N.C.) from 2009-2013 and served as the head coach of the men’s and women’s cross country teams for the Vikings during that same time period. He also worked in the Campus Recreation Department during that time.

Alston graduated from Elizabeth City State with a bachelor’s of the arts degree in Sociology in 2008 and earned his master’s degree in Sports and Fitness Administration from Grambling State in 2017.
