CHICAGO – The Saint Xavier University women's volleyball team (9-9, 7-3) lost to No. 15 ranked Indiana University Kokomo in three sets (21-25, 17-25, 11-25) Wednesday night in a non-conference matchup at the Shannon Center in Chicago, Ill. Junior outside hitter
Connie LeBel (Crestwood, Ill./DePaul/Ferris State/Mother McAuley) led the Cougars with a match-high tying 11 digs and had a team-best eight kills, along with an assist and a service ace.
- Senior middle blocker Courtney Hunter (Bourbonnais, Ill./Bradley-Bourbonnais) collected seven kills, two digs, an assist and a block.
- Junior setter Kaleigh Ritter (Tinley Park, Ill./Lincoln-Way East) had a match-high tying 11 digs and added an ace.
- Junior opposite hitter Abby Gentile (Blissfield, Mich./Lourdes/Blissfield) posted five kills and four digs.
- Freshman setter Abbey Opilka (Dyer, Ind./Hanover Central) tallied 18 assists with five digs and a block assist.
- Sophomore defensive specialist Katie DeHaan (Tinley Park, Ill./Andrew) came away with four digs and a service ace.
- Sophomore middle blocker Nicole Grochola (Burbank, Ill./Reavis) recorded two blocks and a kill, while freshman outside hitter Kaylee Born (Plainfield, Ill./Oswego East) had a block, a dig and a kill.
Saint Xavier (9-9/7-3 CCAC) takes part in the Missouri Baptist University Tournament this weekend in Creve Coeur, Mo. that beings on Friday, October 13. They take on Lindsey Wilson College (Ky.) at Noon and they play No. 7 Missouri Baptist at 4:00 pm.
