Jaedan Aguilera (Belvidere, Ill./Belvidere North) contributed on all three goals, including scoring the game-winner, to give Saint Xavier University men's soccer (8-3-4, 6-2 CCAC) a 3-1 victory over Holy Cross College (Ind.) in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) action Saturday afternoon in Notre Dame, Ill. Aguilera assisted on a goal by junior forward
Pablo Guerrero (Berwyn, Ill./Morton West) and he added two goals, all in the second half, for the road win.
- Graduate student goalkeeper Andres Zamora (Cicero, Ill./Morton East) made five saves for the Cougars and improves his record to 7-3-2 in net this season.
- Aguilera posted a match-bests in shot attempts (five) and shots on goal (four).
- Senior midfielder Fernando Barragan (Burbank, Ill./Moraine Valley/Reavis) tallied four shot attempts in 72 minutes of play off the bench.
- Senior midfielder Andy Lomeli (Dyer, Ind./Roosevelt/Valparaiso/Lake Central) and sophomore midfielder/defender Daniel Diaz (Berwyn, Ill./Morton West) each had two shot attempts, respectively.
- Holy Cross struck first when they got a shot past Zamora in the 25th minute and would hold the one-goal advantage into halftime.
- Guerrero scored his fifth goal of the season to square the match at 1-1 in the 74th minute off a pass for Aguilera.
- Aguilera registered the game-winning goal just over a minute later in the 75th minute on an assist from sophomore defender/midfielder Jessie Cardiel (Chicago, Ill./St. Laurence).
- Aguilera recorded his second goal of the match and his team-leading seventh of the season in the 86th minute to secure the conference victory.
Saint Xavier (8-3-4/6-2 CCAC) plays Governors State University (Ill.) on Wednesday, October 18 in a CCAC matchup at Bruce R. Deaton Memorial Field. The match is scheduled for a 7:00 pm kickoff.
