ST. LOUIS – The Saint Xavier University women's volleyball team (10-11, 7-3 CCAC) concluded the Missouri Baptist University Classic with a 3-0 setback (12-25, 15-25, 12-25) to No. 8 Park University (Mo.) Saturday afternoon at the Perry SRC in St. Louis, Mo. Freshman setter
Abbey Opilka (Dyer, Ind./Hanover Central) paced the Cougars with 14 assists, 14 digs, two service aces and a kill. It was her fifth double-double of the season.
- Junior opposite hitter Abby Gentile (Blissfield, Mich./Lourdes/Blissfield) recorded a team-high 10 kills and added five digs.
- Senior middle blocker Courtney Hunter (Bourbonnais, Ill./Bradley-Bourbonnais) collected six kills and had an ace.
- Sophomore defensive specialist/setter Katie DeHaan (Tinley Park, Ill./Andrew) came away with nine assists and three digs.
- Junior setter/libero Kaleigh Ritter (Tinley Park, Ill./Lincoln-Way East) registered seven digs and had a pair of assists.
- Sophomore outside hitter Tara Glynn (Oak Lawn, Ill./Richards) finished with four kills and three digs.
- Freshman outside hitter Kaylee Born (Plainfield, Ill./Oswego East) tallied four digs along with three kills.
- Sophomore defensive specialist/libero Ariel Hoskin (Woodridge, Ill./Downers Grove South) scooped up five digs, while sophomore middle blocker Nicole Grochola (Burbank, Ill./Reavis) chipped in two kills for Saint Xavier.
Saint Xavier (10-11/7-3 CCAC) travels to Joliet, Ill. to take on University of St. Francis (Ill.) in a Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) contest on Tuesday, October 17. The match is scheduled for a 7:00 pm start.
