Ritter Reaches Milestone; Saint Xavier Swept by IUSB

South Bend, Ind. – Junior setter/ Kaleigh Ritter (Tinley Park, Ill./Lincoln-Way East) finished with match-highs in assists (17) and digs (13), but the Saint Xavier University women's volleyball team (10-13, 7-5 CCAC) was defeated by Indiana University South Bend in three sets (21-25, 19-25, 17-25) in a Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) matchup Tuesday evening at the Student Activities Center in South Bend, Ind. She added a kill, a service ace and a solo block. Ritter also reached a career milestone as she surpassed 1,000 career digs and became just the 29th player in Saint Xavier history to collect 1,000 or more digs. The junior setter now has 1,012 digs for the Cougars. She joins an exclusive club at SXU as well, becoming just the sixth player in team history to have 1,000 or more assists and 1,000 or more digs.
  • Junior opposite hitter Abby Gentile (Blissfield, Mich./Lourdes/Blissfield) recorded a team-best 12 kills with six digs and an ace.
  • Junior outside hitter Connie LeBel (Crestwood, Ill./DePaul/Ferris State/Mother McAuley) also had double-digit kills, totaling 10, and had four digs.
  • Senior middle blocker Courtney Hunter (Bourbonnais, Ill./Bradley-Bourbonnais) came away with eight kills, two digs and a block assist.
  • Sophomore defensive specialist Ariel Hoskin (Woodridge, Ill./Downers Grove South) collected eight digs, five assists and a service ace.

Saint Xavier (10-13/7-5 CCAC) hosts Governors State University (Ill.) at the Shannon Center on Thursday, October 26. Prior to the match SXU will honor its seniors and they will celebrate 'Senior/Family Night.' The match is scheduled for a 7:00 pm start.
