Palos Heights, Ill. – Despite holding a 20-9 shot advantage, the No. 5 seeded Saint Xavier University men's soccer team (8-7-4, 6-5 CCAC) lost to No. 4 Trinity Christian College (Ill.), 3-0, in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Tournament Quarterfinals Saturday afternoon at the Schaaf Athletic Complex in Palos Heights, Ill. Fernando Barragan (Burbank, Ill./Moraine Valley/Reavis) and junior midfielder/forward
Jaedan Aguilera (Belvidere, Ill./Belvidere North) each finished the match with five shot attempts, respectively. Barragan tallied two shots on goal, while Aguilera had one shot on goal.
- Freshman midfielder Saul Lagunas (Midlothian, Ill./Bremen) recorded four shot attempts and he had one shot on goal in 90 minutes on the pitch.
- Junior defender/midfielder Aldo Lagunas (Midlothian, Ill./Moraine Valley/Bremen and sophomore defender/midfielder Daniel Diaz (Berwyn, Ill./Morton West) each had two shot attempts and one shot on goal, respectively.
- Senior midfielder Andy Lomeli (Dyer, Ind./Roosevelt/Valparaiso/Lake Central) collected a pair of shot attempts while playing the full time.
- Graduate student goalkeeper Andres Zamora (Cicero, Ill./Morton East) made three saves for the Cougars.
- Trinity Christian got on the board in the fourth minute to take a 1-0 advantage and the score would hold after the first 45 minutes of action.
- TCC scored twice in the second half to pull away as they scored in the 60th minute and again in the 66th minute on unassisted goals.
Saint Xavier (8-7-4/6-5 CCAC) concludes the 2023 season and will return to action in August of 2024.
