No. 5 SXU Swept by No. 4 TCC in CCAC Quarterfinals

Palos Heights, Ill. – The No. 5 ranked Saint Xavier University women's volleyball team (11-15, 8-6 CCAC) lost to No. 4 Trinity Christian College (Ill.) in three sets (25-27,14-25,13-15) in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Tournament Quarterfinals Tuesday evening in Palos Heights, Ill. to conclude their 2023 season. Junior outside hitter Connie LeBel (Crestwood, Ill./DePaul/Ferris State/Mother McAuley) led the Cougars with eight kills, along with five kills and a match-high tying three service aces.
  • Senior middle blocker Courtney Hunter (Bourbonnais, Ill./Bradley-Bourbonnais) collected seven kills, two digs, an assist and a block.
  • Sophomore outside hitter Jenny Jensen (Orland Park, Ill./Cardinal Stritch/Sandburg) also had seven kills for SXU and she added a dig.
  • Freshman setter Abbey Opilka (Dyer, Ind./Hanover Central) handed out 18 assists, along with five digs and an ace.
  • Sophomore outside hitter Tara Glynn (Oak Lawn, Ill./Richards) posted a career-best 11 digs for a team-high, and she also had four kills.
  • Sophomore defensive specialist Katie DeHaan (Tinley Park, Ill./Andrew) tallied 10 assists, along with seven digs and a kill.
  • Sophomore defensive specialist Ariel Hoskin (Woodridge, Ill./Downers Grove South) came away with six digs and an assist.
  • Sophomore middle blocker Nicole Grochola (Burbank, Ill./Reavis) recorded four kills, a block and a dig, while freshman outside hitter Kaylee Born (Plainfield, Ill./Oswego East) chipped in a team-best two blocks and a kill.
Saint Xavier (11-15/8-6 CCAC) ends the 2023 season and will return to the court in August of 2024.
