Sylvania, Ohio – Junior setter
Kaleigh Ritter (Tinley Park, Ill./Lincoln-Way East) recorded her second double-double of the season with 33 assists and 20 digs to help fuel Saint Xavier University women's volleyball (1-5, 0-1 CCAC) rally back from down 2-0 to defeat Lourdes University (Ohio) in five sets (21-25, 19-25, 25-21, 25-16, 15-10) for the 'Reverse Sweep' Saturday afternoon at the Ebeid Recreation Center in Sylvania, Ohio. Ritter was one of five players for the Cougars to come away with 10 or more digs. As a team, SXU tallied 96 digs, the most since they also had 96 digs in a five-set win over University of Michigan-Dearborn on October 8, 2021.
- Ritter also tied her career-high in kills with five, added a career-best five service aces and had a block.
- Senior middle blocker Courtney Hunter (Bourbonnais, Ill./Bradley-Bourbonnais) finished with a team-high 12 kills, along with five digs, three blocks (two solos) and an ace.
- Freshman outside hitter Kaylee Born (Plainfield, Ill./Oswego East) registered a career-high 10 digs and a career-best four service aces. She also had nine kills, an assist and a solo block.
- Junior opposite hitter Abby Gentile (Blissfield, Mich./Lourdes/Blissfield) tallied seven kills, three digs and a block against her former teammates.
- Sophomore outside hitter Tara Glynn (Oak Lawn, Ill./Richards) provided a lift off the bench with six kills, four digs and ended the match with a solo block.
- Sophomore middle blocker Nicole Grochola (Burbank, Ill./Reavis) collected five kills, three digs, two assists and a block assist.
- Sophomore libero Ariel Hoskin (Woodridge, Ill./Downers Grove South) scooped up a match-best 21 digs and set a new career-high. She also had two assists.
- Sophomore defensive specialist Katie DeHaan (Tinley Park, Ill./Andrew) came away with 15 digs and added an assist.
- Freshman setter Abbey Opilka (Dyer, Ind./Hanover Central) posted 14 digs, six assists, an ace and a kill.
- Sophomore outside hitter Jenny Jensen (Orland Park, Ill./Cardinal Stritch/Sandburg) added a pair of kills and a dig for SXU.
Saint Xavier (1-5/0-1 CCAC) makes its way to University Park, Ill. to play Governors State University (Ill.) in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) action on Tuesday, September 5. The match is scheduled for a 7:00 pm start and no fans will be allowed to attend.
