CHICAGO – The Saint Xavier University women's volleyball team (2-6, 1-1 CCAC) lost to No. 8 Indiana Wesleyan University in three sets (14-25, 17-25, 11-25) in the second match of the Saint Xavier Tri-Match Friday evening at the Shannon Center in Chicago. IWU defeated Lourdes University (Ohio) in the first match, also in three sets (25-14, 25-16, 25-9). Senior middle blocker
Courtney Hunter (Bourbonnais, Ill./Bradley-Bourbonnais) paced the Cougars with five kills, a team-high three blocks (one solo) and a pair of digs.
- Sophomore outside hitter Jenny Jensen (Orland Park, Ill./Cardinal Stritch/Sandburg) added four kills and two digs.
- Freshman setter Abbey Opilka (Dyer, Ind./Hanover Central) handed out 14 assists and had nine digs.
- Freshman outside hitter Kaylee Born (Plainfield, Ill./Oswego East) collected seven digs, four kills and a block.
- Sophomore defensive specialist Katie DeHaan (Tinley Park, Ill./Andrew) scooped up seven digs, while sophomore libero Ariel Hoskin (Woodridge, Ill./Downers Grove South) added six digs for Saint Xavier.
- Junior setter Kaleigh Ritter (Tinley Park, Ill./Lincoln-Way East) came away with five digs, three assists and a service ace.
- Sophomore middle blocker Nicole Grochola (Burbank, Ill./Reavis) tallied four kills, while junior opposite hitter Abby Gentile (Blissfield, Mich./Lourdes/Blissfield) added two digs, a block and a kill.
Saint Xavier (2-6/1-1 CCAC) has a quick turnaround as the host Lourdes University (Ohio) at 12:00 pm at the Shannon Center on Saturday, September 9.
