Bethany Baldwin (Watersmeet, Mich./Finlandia/Triton/Watersmeet) scored a season-high 23 points on 9-of-15 shooting and freshman guard
Emma Clark (Rockton, Ill./Hononegah Community) tallied a career-best 20 points after shooting 8-for-12 from the field to help guide Saint Xavier University women's basketball (10-8, 8-3 CCAC) to an 86-48 road victory over Judson University (Ill.) in a Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) contest Wednesday evening at the Linder Center in Elgin, Ill. Both Baldwin and Clark drained four three-pointers, respectively. Baldwin was 4-for-6 from beyond the arc, while Clark made four of her seven attempts.
The first quarter was close at the Cougars held 19-15 lead as both teams shot 37.5 percent, as SXU was 6-for-16 and JU was 3-for-8. Saint Xavier pulled away in the second half by outscoring the Eagles, 31-8, by making 60.0 percent for their shots (12-for-20) and making 7-of-11 three-point attempts to carry a 50-23 advantage into halftime. Baldwin scored 21 of her 23 points in the first half in 18 minutes of action. The Cougars finished the game with 12 three-pointers (12-for-31), the fourth time this season that they have made 10 or more threes in a game and are now 3-1, with three consecutive wins, in those contests.
- Baldwin added four rebounds, three steals and two assists in 22 minutes.
- Clark also came away with a career-best six rebounds along with two assists in 14 minutes off the bench.
- Junior forward Alyssa Crenshaw (Algonquin, Ill./Dundee Crown) recorded her third double-double of the year, collecting 15 points and a season-high tying 11 rebounds. She also had an assist, a block and a steal.
- Junior guard Jenna Hernandez (Homer Glen, Ill./Joliet Catholic Academy) also finished in double-figures with 11 points on 4-for-5 shooting, including a 3-for-4 clip from deep. She had a season-best three steals and a blocked shot.
- Junior guard Aaliyahna Derrell (Colorado Springs, Colo./Sand Creek) dished out six assists, along with five points, two rebounds and a steal.
- Sophomore forward Kaliah Neighbors (Evansville, Ind./Evansville North) pulled down seven rebounds with two points.
- Junior forward Sofie Carr (Indianapolis, Ind./Roncalli) registered four points, three rebounds and an assist, while freshman forward Delaney Panozzo (Grant Park, Ill./Grant Park) added five rebounds, two points, an assist, a block and a steal.
Saint Xavier (10-8/8-3 CCAC) hosts Governors State University (Ill.) in a CCAC matchup on Saturday, January 27. The Cougars will also be celebrating 'Alumni Day" with the game is slated for a 1:00 pm tipoff.
