Jan Lopuch (Krakow, Poland/I Liceum Ogolnoksztalcace Sportowego) each posted 12 kills, however the No. 8 ranked Saint Xavier University men's volleyball team (0-3/0-0 CCAC) lost in four sets to No. 10 William Penn University (Iowa) (22-25, 15-25, 25-17, 18-25) Saturday morning on Bob Hallberg Court at the Shannon Center in Chicago, Ill. to conclude the 2024 Chicago Tournament co-hosted by the Cougars and Judson University (Ill.). Pennala finished the match with three digs, three blocks, two service aces and an assist. Lopuch added a pair of digs, an ace and an assist.
- Redshirt junior outside hitter Vejas Cuplinskas (Riverside, Ill./Riverside Brookfield) tallied seven kills, two digs, two service aces and a solo block.
- Freshman setter Cameron Daniels (Omaha, Neb./Millard West) led the Cougars with 18 assists, along with a career-best four kills, three digs and a block.
- Fifth-year senior setter Christian Oviedo (Brea, Calif./Concordia-Irvine/Servite) collected 16 assists and two digs.
- Senior middle blocker John Glennon (Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln-Way East) recorded four kills and team-high tying three blocks.
- Sophomore libero Andres Velez (Toa Baja, Puerto Rico/St. Francis) was tough defensively as he had 12 of the teams 24 digs. Velez also had four assists for SXU.
No. 8 Saint Xavier (0-3/0-0 CCAC) travels to Rolla, Mo. to face Missouri S&T on Friday, February 2. The match is scheduled for a 7:00 pm first serve.
