East Chicago, Ind. – The Saint Xavier University men's soccer team (2-6-3, 2-0-2 CCAC) extended its shutout streak to four matches as they have yet to concede a goal in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) play after they defeated Calumet College of St. Joseph (Ind.) Saturday morning in East Chicago, Ind. Senior forward
Jaedan Aguilera (Belvidere, Ill./Belvidere North) scored a pair of goals in his first appearance of the season and junior goalkeeper
Daniel Martinez (Cicero, Ill./Morton East) earned his first collegiate victory while in net, along with his first career shutout as SXU recorded a season-high five goals on a season-best 20 shot attempts.
- Senior midfielder Francisco Espinosa (Lansing, Ill./Illinois-Chicago/T.F. South) and freshman forward Diego Garcia (Chicago, Ill./Hope Academy) each had a team-high three shot attempts with two shots on goal, respectively.
- Aguilera scored his first goal of the season in the 5th minute off a pass from redshirt sophomore midfielder Mauri Martinez (Chicago, Ill./Argo Community).
- In the 14th minute, Aguilera netted his second goal of the match with senior midfielder Nick Tamayo (Palos Park, Ill./North Central/Stagg) posting his first assist of the year.
- Sophomore midfielder Aidan Breslin (Crestwood, Ill./Western Illinois/Shepard) pushed the advantage to 3-0 in the 22nd minute on a freekick for his second goal on the 2024 campaign.
- Freshman forward Rodrigo Hernandez (Bridgeview, Ill./Stagg) scored his second goal of the season in the 59th minute on an assist from Tamayo.
- Garcia capped the scoring in the 62nd minute with his first collegiate goal with junior midfielder Pedro Guzman (Burbank, Ill./Moraine Valley/Reavis) picking up the assist.
Saint Xavier (2-6-3/2-0-2 CCAC) returns to Bruce R. Deaton Memorial Field to play University of St. Francis (Ill.) in a CCAC contest on Saturday, October 12. The match is slated for a 7:30 pm start.
