Connie LeBel (Crestwood, Ill./DePaul/Ferris State/Mother McAuley) recorded her team-leading 12
th double-double of the season, finishing the match with 12 kills and 11 digs to help the Saint Xavier University women's volleyball team (18-10, 13-1 CCAC) earn a 3-0 victory (25-20, 25-21, 25-12) over Indiana University Northwest in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament Quarterfinals Tuesday evening on Bob Hallberg Court at the Shannon Center in Chicago, Ill. LeBel was one of three Cougars to come away with double-digit kills, posting an attack percentage of .313 (12-2-32) while adding three assists and three service aces. As a team, SXU registered its third-highest attack percentage of the year at .325 (51-13-117) and they totaled 51 kills, the 11
th time the team has had 50 or more kills in a match in 2024 and the first time they did so in just three sets.
- Redshirt junior setter Samantha Hovey (Mackinaw, Ill./Heartland/Dee-Mack) paced the offense once again as she handed out a match-leading 41 assists to go along with seven digs, three kills, an ace and a block. It was her fourth match with 40 or more digs this season.
- Junior middle blocker Nicole Grochola (Burbank, Ill./Reavis) tallied her second-highest kill total this year, collecting 11 on a .318 attack percentage (11-4-22). She also tied her season-high with four blocks (two solos) and she added a dig.
- Fifth-year senior middle blocker Courtney Hunter (Bourbonnais, Ill./Bradley-Bourbonnais) recorded 10 kills, four digs and a block.
- Freshman middle blocker Carrington Smith (Flossmoor, Ill./Marian Catholic) was a force at the net, coming away with an attack percentage of .692 (9-0-13) for a new career-high (min. 10 attempts). She added a pair of blocks (one solo).
- Junior defensive specialist Katie DeHaan (Tinley Park, Ill./Andrew) scooped up a team-leading 16 digs, her sixth double-digit dig effort of the season, and she had a service ace.
- Redshirt junior libero Avanna Martinez (Coamo, Puerto Rico/Colegio Ponceno) tallied her team-high 16th match with double-digit digs, finishing with 12. She also had three assists and came away with her fifth kill of the season from the libero position.
- Junior outside hitter Jenny Jensen (Orland Park, Ill./Cardinal Stritch/Sandburg) posted five kills and a block, while freshman defensive specialist Taylor Vann (Oklahoma City, Okla./Bishop McGuinness Catholic) collected four digs and an ace.
Saint Xavier (18-10/13-1 CCAC) hosts No. 3 seed Judson University (Ill.) in the CCAC Tournament Semifinals at the Shannon Center on Thursday, November 14. The match is scheduled for a 7:00 pm first serve on Bob Hallberg Court in Chicago, Ill.
