SXU Women’s Basketball Takes Down UHSP, 88-55

CHICAGO – Junior center Eleanor Harris (Downers Grove, Ill./Downers Grove North) recorded her first double-double of the season and the fifth of her career, coming away with a season-high 15 points on 7-for-9 shooting (77.8 percent) and a career-best 13 rebounds to help lead the Saint Xavier University women's basketball team (7-4, 3-1 CCAC) to a non-conference victory over University of Health Sciences & Pharmacy in St. Louis, 88-55, Wednesday evening on Bob Hallberg Court at the Shannon Center in Chicago, Ill. Harris also had a season-high four blocked shots, with two steals and an assist, helping SXU register a season-best eight blocks. The Cougars out-rebounded the Eutectics by a 52-39 margin, their second-highest rebound total of the season and their third game this year with 50 or more rebounds. Saint Xavier also knocked down a season-best 11 three-pointers on 31 attempts.
  • Junior guard Jaidn Green (Evansville, Ind./Evansville North) led all scorers with 23 points and was 4-for-8 from beyond the arc. She added season-high tying four assists and two rebounds.
  • Freshman guard Maeve Egan (Chicago, Ill./Mother McAuley) drained six threes on 11 attempts, establishing a new career-high with 22 points. She also grabbed a career-best seven rebounds with a pair of steals and her first collegiate block.
  • Senior guard Aaliyahna Derrell (Colorado Springs, Colo./Sand Creek) tallied nine points, a game-best five assists, two rebounds and a steal.
  • Senior center Alyssa Crenshaw (Algonquin, Ill./Dundee-Crown) finished with six points, three rebounds, a blocked shot and a steal.
  • Sophomore guard Emma Clark (Rockton, Ill./Hononegah Community) collected five points, an assist and a rebound.
  • Freshman forward Veronica Bafia (Homer Glen, Ill./Lockport Township) added five rebounds (all offensive), four points, two assists and a steal, while junior forward Kaliah Neighbors (Evansville, Ind./Evansville North) collected four rebounds, two points, an assist and a block.
Saint Xavier (7-4/3-1 CCAC) makes the short trip to Gary, Ind. to play Indiana University Northwest (Ind.) in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) action on Saturday, December 21. The game is scheduled for a 1:00 pm tipoff.
