CHICAGO – Sophomore outfielder Ryan O'Farrell (Oak Forest, Ill./Oak Forest) hit his first collegiate home run, a three-run shot, with two outs to give the Saint Xavier University baseball team (27-23/19-13 CCAC) a thrilling 10-7 victory over Trinity Christian College (Ill.) in game one of their Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) doubleheader Saturday afternoon at Richard R. Ferrell Memorial Field in Chicago, Ill. Freshman infielder Troy Stukenberg (La Grange, Ill./Lyons Township) doubled twice with four RBI and fifth-year senior designated hitter Evan Orzech (Shorewood, Ill./Crossroads Christian Academy) was a double shy of the cycle with two RBI, however the Cougars came up short in game two, falling 11-8.

Prior to the start of the doubleheader, SXU honored 12 seniors on 'Senior Day' with pitcher Matt Boehm (Evergreen Park, Ill./Lewis/De La Salle), pitcher Nicholas Bounardj (Chicago, Ill./Marist), pitcher Tommy Dougherty (Alsip, Ill./South Suburban/Shepard), utility player Nick Fies (Munster, Ind./South Suburban/Munster), pitcher Ryan Martin (Whitestone, N.Y./Iona/St. Francis Prep), pitcher Vince Oldenstedt (Tinley Park, Ill./Moraine Valley/Andrew), Orzech, pitcher Nico Saldias (Ajax, Ont./Connors State/Pickering), infielder Doug Shermulis (Tinley Park, Ill./Andrew), pitcher Max Smyth (Tinley Park, Ill./Illinois Central/Andrew), pitcher Julian Vargas (Tinley Park, Ill./Tinley Park) and pitcher Tzu-Chun Yen (Kaohsiung, Taiwan/Ohlone/Meiho) being recognized.

Game One:

• O'Farrell added a double while going 2-for-3 at the plate.
• Stukenberg was 2-for-4 with two RBI, a double and a run scored.
• Freshman pitcher/designated hitter Noah Dreier (Brookfield, Wis./Brookfield Central) doubled twice in three at-bats with two runs and a walk. He also made his first collegiate start on the mound, working 2.0 innings with one hit allowed, two walks and a strikeout.
• Junior outfielder Sean Moore (Chicago, Ill./Calumet St. Joseph/Thornwood) collected three base hits in four trips to the plate and he scored a run.
• Junior pitcher Logan Antrim (Effingham, Ill./Lincoln Land/St. Anthony) pitched 3.1 innings of relief with five hits, four runs (three earned) and a strikeout.
• Freshman pitcher Garrett Benko (Chesterton, Ind./Andrean) logged 0.2 innings, giving up four hits and three earned runs.
• Junior pitcher Noah Scott (Chesterton, Ind./Chesterton) picked up the win (4-1) after posting an inning with a walk.
• Junior outfielder Justin Massingale (Carbondale, Ill./St. Charles CC/Carbondale Community) gave Saint Xavier a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the 1^st with an RBI groundout.
• The Trolls tied the game on a squeeze bunt in the top of the 4^th.
• Dreier hit a double and an error allowed freshman outfielder Nick Altobelli (Tinley Park, Ill./Andrew) to score from second base to break the tie.
• TCC rallied for three runs in the top of the 5^th with a home run, a run scoring on an error and an RBI single.
• Stukenberg got a run back in the bottom half of the inning, cutting the deficit to 4-3, with an RBI base hit.
• Trinity Christian homered in the top of the 6^th to go up 5-3.
• Junior infielder Mason Johnson (Palmdale, Calif./Antelope Valley/Quartz Hill) hit an RBI single and junior infielder Konner Hutchings (O'Fallon, Mo./St. Charles/Liberty) tied the game at 5-5 with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the 6^th.
• In the top of the 5^th, Orzech rapped an RBI single and Altobelli hit an RBI base hit through the left side of the infield to push the advantage to 4-0.
• An RBI walk and a sac fly gave the Trolls a 7-5 lead in the top of the 7^th.
• Stukenberg pulled an RBI double to left and Altobelli tied the game with a sacrifice fly. After an intentional walk and a ground out, O'Farrell belted a game-winning three-run home run over the left field wall.

Game Two:

• Stukenberg was 2-for-5.
• Altobelli also hit two doubles, along with two runs, two RBI and a walk while going 2-for-4.
• Orzech went 3-for-4 with three runs scored, a home run, a triple and a walk.
• Junior pitcher Logan McCleery (Patterson, Calif./Patterson) took the bump, throwing 3.0 innings with six hits, eight runs (seven earned), three walks and four strikeouts. He falls to 3-7 on the season.
• Sophomore pitcher Trent Markezich (Mount Olive, Ill./Mount Olive) tossed 2.0 innings out of the bullpen with one hit, an unearned run and three strikeouts.
• Dougherty pitched an inning with two hits allowed, an earned run and a walk.
• Martin also threw an inning giving up a hit and recording a strikeout.
• Boehm logged an inning with one hit, one earned run and two walks.
• Oldenstedt worked 0.2 innings with a hit and Bounardj closed out the top of the 9^th and rolled a ground ball to end the frame.
• TCC scored six runs in the top of the 1^st on an RBI single, a two-run double, another RBI single, an error and a wild pitch.
• In the bottom half of the inning, Stukenberg hit an RBI double down the left field line.
• A home run and an error put Trinity Christian up 8-1 in the top of the 3^rd. They added a sac fly in the top of the 5^th and an RBI single in the top of the 6^th.
• Orzech slugged his sixth home run of the year in the bottom of the 6^th.
• Altobelli lined a two-run double to the gap in left center and he scored on Orzech's RBI triple to make it 10-5.
• The Trolls tallied a run on a squeeze bunt in the top of the 8^th.
• Stukenberg sliced a bases-clearing double down the right field line to cap the scoring.

Saint Xavier (27-23/19-13 CCAC) prepares for the CCAC Tournament that begins on Thursday, May 2 at Duly Health & Care Field in Joliet, Ill. Opponent and time are TBA.
