Crown Point, Ind. – Sophomore outfielder Haley Matlock (Indianapolis, Ind./Southport)  finished 3-for-3 at the plate with two RBI, two runs scored, a double and a stolen base and senior pitcher Laila Summers (Joliet, Ill./Providence Catholic) posted her seventh shutout of the season, scattering four hits with three strikeouts to help lead No. 1 seed Saint Xavier University softball (25-12/12-4 CCAC) to an 8-0 victory in five innings over No. 4 Trinity Christian College (Ill.) Thursday evening in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Tournament in Crown Point, Ind. The game was originally scheduled for a 5:00 pm start, however the previous game between the Trolls and No. 5 St. Ambrose University (Iowa) was delayed due to lightning.

• Freshman outfielder Aubrey Wroble (Crown Point, Ind./Crown Point) also went 3-for-3, scoring two runs and swiping a base.
• Sophomore infielder Kaitlyn Wright (Chicago, Ill./Marist) was 1-for-3 with two RBI.
• Junior catcher Lindsay Morgan (Huntley, Ill./Keiser/Huntley) had two hits in two at-bats with a stolen base and a walk.
• Senior infielder Alexus Reese (Schererville, Ind./Lake Central) went 1-for-3 with an RBI, a run scored and a steal.
• Senior infielder Brooke Koran (Romeoville, Ill./Plainfield East) also was 1-for-3 adding an RBI double and scoring a run.
• Reese ripped an RBI single, sophomore designated player Taylor Becker (Alsip, Ill./Shepard) drove in a run with a sacrifice fly and junior infielder Abbie Carr (Indianapolis, Ind./Roncalli) lined an RBI single to center to put the Cougars up 3-0 in the bottom of the 1^st.
• Wright smacked a two-run single to score Matlock and Wroble to make it 5-0 in the bottom of the 2^nd.
• Trinity Christian loaded the bases in the top of the 3^rd after a pair of one-out singles and error. Summers got out of the jam when Reese caught a line-drive and doubled off the runner leading away from first.
• Koran hammered an RBI double and scored on Matlock's two-run single to extended the lead to 8-0 in the bottom of the 3^rd.
• Summers allowed just one more base runner, a two-out error in the top of the 4^th, and retired the side in order with three ground outs in the top of the 5^th.

No. 1 Saint Xavier (25-12/12-4 CCAC) plays the winner of No. 6 Olivet Nazarene University vs. No. 2 University of St. Francis (Ill.) match-up in the semifinals of the winners bracket on Friday, May 3 in Crown Point, Ind. The game is scheduled for a 5:00 pm first pitch.
