Bourbonnais, Ill. – Fifth-year senior middle blocker
Courtney Hunter (Bourbonnais, Ill./Bradley-Bourbonnais) tallied a match-high 15 kills and team-best five blocks (one solo) to help lead Saint Xavier University women's volleyball (6-8, 3-0 CCAC) to a four-set victory (21-25, 25-17, 25-16, 25-22) over Olivet Nazarene University (Ill.) Tuesday evening in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) action at McHie Arena in Bourbonnais, Ill. The victory moves the Cougars to 3-0 in conference play, tied with No. 17 Viterbo University (Wis.) for first place.
- Senior outside hitter Connie LeBel (Crestwood, Ill./DePaul/Ferris State/Mother McAuley) had a strong evening, posting 14 kills with eight digs, three service aces, an assist and a block.
- Freshman middle blocker Carrington Smith (Flossmoor, Ill./Marian Catholic) finished with nine kills and a career-high four blocks (one solo).
- Senior setter Kaleigh Ritter (Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln-Way East) recorded her second double-double of the season after a 34 assist and 13 dig effort. She also had two aces and a kill.
- Junior outside hitter Jenny Jensen (Orland Park, Ill./Cardinal Stritch/Sandburg) came away with seven kills, three digs and two blocks (one solo).
- Junior middle blocker Nicole Grochola (Burbank, Ill./Reavis) registered five kills, four blocks (one solo), an assist and a dig.
- Redshirt junior libero Avanna Martinez (Coamo, Puerto Rico/Colegio Ponceno) collected a team-best 18 digs, along with three assists and a service ace.
- Freshman defensive specialist Taylor Vann (Oklahoma City, Okla./Bishop McGuinness Catholic) added eight digs, three aces and a pair of assists.
- Redshirt junior setter Samantha Hovey (Mackinaw, Ill./Heartland/Dee-Mack) posted seven assists, five digs and a service ace, while junior defensive specialist Katie DeHaan (Tinley Park, Ill./Andrew) recorded three aces, an assist and a dig.
Saint Xavier (6-8/3-0 CCAC) travels to Mishawaka, Ind. to face Bethel University (Ind.) in a non-conference contest on Friday, September 20. The match is scheduled for a 6:00 pm central time first serve.
