Jaedan Aguilera (Belvidere, Ill./Belvidere North) converted a penalty kick (PK) in the 74
th minute that proved to be the game-winning goal as the Saint Xavier University men's soccer team (9-3-2, 4-1-1 CCAC) came away with a 1-0 victory over Indiana University Northwest in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) play Saturday evening at Bruce R. Deaton Memorial Field in Chicago, Ill. A penalty inside the 18-yard box set up the penalty kick. For Aguilera, it was his second made penalty kick on the season as he netted a PK vs. NCAA Division II Purdue University Northwest (Ind.) on September 16 at Deaton Field. Redshirt junior goalkeeper
Daniel Martinez (Cicero, Ill./Morton East) made six saves for the Cougars to earn his sixth shutout of the season, and he improved his record to 8-2-2 while in net.
- Aguilera finished the match with a team-high six shot attempts and four shots on goal in 85 minutes of action.
- Redshirt sophomore midfielder Saul Lagunas (Midlothian, Ill./Bremen) had three shot attempts and one shot on goal while playing the full 90 minutes.
- Sophomore midfielder/forward Eduardo Perez (Chicago, Ill./St. Laurence) added a shot on goal in 19 minutes off the bench.
- Martinez collected three saves in each half.
- Aguilera netted his team-leading eighth goal of the year, giving him 39 for his collegiate career and tying for No. 3 in program history with SXU Hall-of-Famer Hassan Abuhamdeh (1990-92).
Saint Xavier (9-3-2/4-1-1 CCAC) makes the short trip to Whiting, Ind. to play Calumet College of St. Joseph (Ind.) in conference action on Saturday, October 18. The match is set for a 12:30 pm start.
