No. 25 SXU Falls to No. 7 Marian, 45-0, on ‘Senior Day’

CHICAGO – The No. 25 ranked Saint Xavier University football team (7-4, 3-2 MSFA Midwest) concluded their 2025 season with a 45-0 loss to No. 7 Marian University (Ind.) Saturday afternoon at Bruce R. Deaton Memorial Field in Chicago, Ill. Senior linebacker Chris Swayne (LaSalle, Ill./LaSalle-Peru Township) finished with a game-high 15 tackles (three solos) and a sack for three yards.

Before the game, the Cougars recognized 19 seniors with a ceremony in the south end zone. Wide receiver Adam Alcantar (Chicago, Ill./Oak Lawn Community), defensive back Alex Art (Round Lake Beach, Ill./Grant Community), offensive lineman Ryan Butler (Country Club Hills, Ill./Hillcrest), quarterback Dominic D'Ambrosio (Oak Forest, Ill./Andrew), linebacker Terry Elias Jr. (Monee, Ill./Crete-Monee), wide receiver Ronnie Foster (Peoria Heights, Ill./Peoria Heights), wide receiver Cameron Hatcher (Morris, Ill./Morris Community), running back Tyreese Lee (Chicago, Ill./Moraine Valley/Eisenhower), offensive lineman Ezekiel Little (Lafayette, Ind./Lafayette Jefferson), wide receiver Ryan McFadden (Oak Park, Ill./Oak Park-River Forest), offensive lineman Nicholas Niecikowski (Elmwood Park, Ill./Trinity International/IC Catholic Prep), wide receiver Marquel Porter (Calumet Park, Ill./DuPage/Richards), wide receiver Mario Price (Chicago Heights, Ill./Calumet New Tech), kicker Adrian Sojka (Justice, Ill./Moraine Valley/Argo Community), wide receiver Caleb Straughter (Hales Corners, Wis./Whitnall), Swayne, offensive lineman Jacolby Washington (Chicago, Ill./Montini Catholic), linebacker Carter Wynn (Greenfield, Wis./Whitnall) and defensive lineman Justin Yeazell (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield North).
  • D'Ambrosio went 9-for-28 for 57 passing yards and three interceptions.
  • Wynn converted a fourth down with a rush of 39 yards while adding four tackles (two solos) and a pass breakup.
  • Price ran for 34 yards on seven carries, along with two kick returns for 38 yards.
  • Redshirt junior running back Joey Thompson (Homer Glen, Ill./Midland/Western Illinois/Mount Carmel) also rushed for 34 yards on nine attempts.
  • Hatcher caught three passes for 22 yards.
  • Elias Jr. collected nine stops (three solos) with a sack for four yards.
  • Redshirt sophomore defensive back Cam Manney (Chicago, Ill./Curies) made six tackles (two solos) with a pass breakup.
  • Redshirt sophomore defensive lineman David Burton (St. Louis, Mo./Parkway West) posted six tackles as well (one solo) with 0.5 sacks for four yards.
  • The Knights scored a touchdown in the closing seconds of the first quarter on a five-yard quarterback keeper.
  • MU made it 14-0 at the 11:57 mark on an eight-yard touchdown run.
  • A 47-yard field goal by Marian gave them a 17-0 advantage with 7:27 to go and they maintained the lead at halftime.
  • An interception on a screen pass was returned 10 yards to extend the lead to 24-0 for the Knights on the opening drive of the third quarter.
  • MU pushed their lead to 31-0 on a 62-yard catch with 10:19 remaining left in the third period.
  • Marian added to its lead on a 10-yard touchdown reception with 46 seconds to go in the third quarter.
  • The Knights capped the scoring with 10:17 left in regulation with a 66-yard touchdown run.
