Omar Aparicio (Chicago, Ill./Hancock College Prep) scored the game-winning goal in the 107
th minute of double overtime to send the No. 3 seeded Saint Xavier University men's soccer team (12-4-3, 6-2-2 CCAC) to the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Tournament Semifinals after a thrilling 4-3 triumph over No. 6 Trinity Christian College (Ill.) in the quarterfinals Wednesday evening at Bruce R. Deaton Memorial Field in Chicago, Ill. It is the first time since 2018 that SXU advances to the semifinals after an overtime win, 3-2, over Robert Morris University (Ill.) in the quarterfinals on November 2, 2018. Saint Xavier held a 29-22 shot advantage in the contest, including an 8-5 edge in the extra frames.
- Aparicio collected three shot attempts on the evening in 91 minutes on the pitch.
- Fifth-year senior forward Jaedan Aguilera (Belvidere, Ill./Belvidere North) finished with a career-high nine shot attempts and eight shots in goal, along with an assist while playing the full time.
- Redshirt sophomore midfielder Saul Lagunas (Midlothian, Ill./Bremen) tallied four shot attempts and three shots on goal. He netted his first goal of the year in 83 minutes of action.
- Junior midfielder Mark Vitaliy Hul (Ternopil, Ukraine/Moraine Valley/TSSH No. 29) also had three shot attempts with two shots on goal. He scored his seventh goal of the year while playing all 107 minutes.
- Senior midfielder/defender Jessie Cardiel (Chicago, Ill./St. Laurence) came away with two shots on goal and his first goal of the season in 81 minutes of play.
- Redshirt junior goalkeeper Daniel Martinez (Cicero, Ill./Morton East) had 10 saves, his third match with 10 or more saves in 2025. He moves his record to 10-2-2 while in goal.
- Trinity Christian struck first with a goal in the just the fourth minute of action off of a header set up by a cross from the right side.
- The Trolls made it 2-0 in the 18th minute on a strike from the left side.
- In the 29th minute a foul just outside the 18-yard box set up a free kick that Lagunas converted into a goal to make it 2-1.
- Hul squared the match at 2-2 in the 41st minute after Aguilera raced in from the left side and sending a pass back towards the middle that Hul sent into the back of the net.
- The match remained tied until the 78th minute when TCC went back up 3-2 off of a touch pass in front of the net.
- 70 seconds later in the 79th minute, Cardiel brought the ball in from the left side and sent a laser from 30 yards out into the upper right corner to even the match again.
- In the first overtime, Aguilera had a pair of changes that were stopped in the 97th and 100th
- Junior midfielder/forward Yael Diaz (Chicago, Ill./Moraine Valley/Hubbard) sent a shot in that was saved but Aparicio collected the loose ball and sent in the game-winner in the second overtime.
Saint Xavier (12-4-3/6-2-2 CCAC) travels to La Crosse, Wis. to take on No. 2 Viterbo University (Wis.) in the CCAC Tournament Semifinals on Saturday, November 8. The start of the match is TBA.
