Jaidn Green (Evansville, Ind./Evansville North) totaled a team-high 13 points on 4-for-7 shooting, including 2-for-3 from three-point range, along with four rebounds and a pair of assists, however the Saint Xavier University women's basketball team (2-0, 0-0 CCAC) suffered its first loss of the season after being defeated 77-54 by No. 5 Marian University (Ind.) on Bob Hallberg Court at the Shannon Center in Chicago, Ill. The Cougars fell behind early 16-0 midway through the first quarter before going on a 10-2 run to close the frame, down 18-10, entering the second period. Green pushed the run to 13-2 after she drained a three to start the scoring in the second quarter. Maeve Egan (Chicago, Ill./Mother McAuley) knocked down a three-pointer at the 6:41 mark of the third quarter to pull Saint Xavier within eight points, 36-28, but Marian would score on the next play to hold a double-digit lead through the rest of the contest.
- Egan finished with 11 points on 3-for-5 shooting while making three of her four threes. She also had three rebounds and a steal.
- Junior guard Madyson Kibelkis (Peotone, Ill./Peotone) netted 10 points while going 4-for-7 from the floor with a pair of treys, along with a rebound in 13 minutes off the bench.
- Sophomore forward Veronica Bafia (Homer Glen, Ill./Lockport Township) recorded six points, two blocked shots, two rebounds and two steals.
- Senior guard Lia Chudzik (Pewaukee, Wis./Pewaukee) came away with five points, two assists and a steal.
- Sophomore guard Makayla Kelly (Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln-Way East) registered five points, an assist and a rebound.
- Freshman forward Alaina Peetz (Lockport, Ill./Lockport Township) collected a pair of assists, two points, two rebounds and a block.
- Freshman guard Brooklynn Johnson (Aurora, Ill./West Aurora) chipped in two points, two rebounds and an assist.
Saint Xavier (2-1/0-0 CCAC) wraps up play in the Catholic Classic when they host No. Saint Francis (Ind.) at the Shannon Center on Saturday, November 6. The game is slated for a 6:00 pm tip-off.
