CHICAGO – The No. 2 ranked and top-seeded Saint Xavier University men's volleyball team (28-0/12-0 CCAC) defeated No. 2 Olivet Nazarene University (Ill.) in three sets (25-17, 25-20, 25-17) to win the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Men's Volleyball Tournament for the fifth year in a row and the sixth time in the last seven season, with 2020 season was canceled midway through due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, Saturday afternoon on Bob Hallberg Court at the Shannon Center in Chicago, Ill. With the win, the Cougars earn an automatic berth into the 12-team 2025 NAIA Men's Volleyball National Championship that begins on Tuesday, April 29 at the Alliant Energy PowerHouse in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
- Sophomore outside hitter Caydann Cox (Jamestown, N.D./Jamestown/Jamestown) posted a match-high 16 kills on a .387 attack percentage (16-4-31), along with five digs, two assists, two service aces and a block.
- Junior opposite hitter Oskar Krzyzak (Now Sacz, Poland/Szkota Mistrzostwa Sportowego Rzeszow) recorded his first double-double of the season with a season-best 11 digs and 10 kills.
- Sophomore setter Cameron Daniels (Omaha, Neb./Millard West) came away with a match-leading 35 assists, adding six digs, a pair of kills and a block.
- Graduate student middle blocker Drew Ehlers (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield North) collected six kills, two digs, an ace and a block.
- Senior opposite hitter/setter Matt Pennala (Long Beach, Calif./Long Beach City/St. John Bosco) tallied six kills on eight attempts with an assist and a dig in just one set of action.
- Redshirt senior outside hitter Vejas Cuplinskas (Riverside, Ill./Riverside Brookfield) totaled six kills as well, along with a dig.
- Junior libero Andres Velez (Toa Baja, Puerto Rico/St. Francis) registered eight digs, five assists and a service ace.
- Senior outside hitter Sean Carey (Skokie, Ill./Niles West) scooped up three digs, while sophomore middle blocker Camden Steckler (Manteca, Calif./Jamestown/Manteca) added a pair of kills
- Sophomore setter Aaron Amawan (Hanover Park, Ill./Bartlett) had three digs, and he held serve with the SXU trailing at 14-13 in the third set, allowing Cox to tally four kills and Krzyzak to add another to give Saint Xavier an 18-14 advantage. The Cougars closed out the set with a 7-2 run.
No. 2 Saint Xavier (28-0/12-0 CCAC) will find out who they play at the NAIA National Championship Tournament when the pools and pairings are announced by the national office on Tuesday, April 22 at 11:00 am central.
