Campbellsville, Ky. – The Saint Xavier University men's soccer team (2-2, 0-0 CCAC) lost to Campbellsville University (Ky.) by a score of 2-0 Saturday evening in Campbellsville, Ky. The Cougars were outshot in the contest, 10-6, as the hosts took seven of their 10 shot attempts in the second half. Redshirt junior goalkeeper
Daniel Martinez (Cicero, Ill./Morton East) made four saves for SXU, stopping two shots in each half of play.
- Fifth-year senior midfielder Saul Camacho (Summit, Ill./Elmhurst/St. Laurence) and Junior midfielder Mark Vitaliy Hul (Ternopil, Ukraine/Moraine Valley/TSSH No. 29) were each credited with two shot attempts and one shot on goal, respectively.
- Junior midfielder/defender Aidan Breslin (Crestwood, Ill./Western Illinois/Shepard) and redshirt sophomore midfielder Saul Lagunas (Midlothian, Ill./Bremen) each had a shot attempt for Saint Xavier as well.
- Martinez made a save in just the second minute of action, and he made another stop in the 17th minute. He, along with the Cougar defense limited the Tigers to just one shot the reminder of the half.
- CU broke the scoreless tie in the 80th minute and they would add another goal in the 88th minute to secure the win.
Saint Xavier (2-2/0-0 CCAC) hosts Hannibal-LaGrange University (Mo.) at Bruce R. Deaton Memorial Field on Tuesday, September 9. The match is set for a 7:00 pm kickoff in Chicago, Ill.
