Brooklynn Johnson (Aurora, Ill./West Aurora) sparked a 19-5 run that started midway through the first quarter with a basket, scoring 11 of her 21 points during that stretch to fuel Saint Xavier University women's basketball (14-7, 11-3 CCAC) in a 70-48 road victory over Judson University (Ill.) in a Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) contest Wednesday evening at the Lindner Fitness Center in Elgin, Ill. Johnson was 8-for-13 from the floor, including 4-for-7 from three-point range, along with two rebounds and an assist in 28 minutes of action. Her scoring outburst turned an 11-4 deficit into a 23-16 lead early in the second period. The Cougars built a 38-25 lead heading into halftime. The maintained a double-digit lead coming out of the locker room to improve to 11-3 in conference play.
SXU dished out a season-high 23 assists, their third game with 20 or more assists in 2025-26, all wins. Saint Xavier also drained 10 threes on the evening, the fifth time this season that they have made 10 or more three-pointers in a game.
- Sophomore forward Veronica Bafia (Homer Glen, Ill./Lockport Township) made six of her 10 shots, totaling 13 points. She added four assists, two steals, a blocked shot and a rebound while logging 30 minutes of playing time.
- Junior guard Madyson Kibelkis (Peotone, Ill./Peotone) netted a season-high 13 points on an efficient 5-for-5 shooting, along with a 75.0 percent (3-for-4) mark from beyond the arc. She also had two rebounds in just 12 minutes off the bench.
- Sophomore guard Maeve Egan (Chicago, Ill./Mother McAuley) recorded seven points, a season-best six rebounds, three assists and three steals, all in 12 minutes as a reserve.
- Freshman guard Taryn Fisher (Westfield, Ind./Carmel) scored seven points as well, along with an assist and a steal.
- Senior guard Jaidn Green (Evansville, Ind./Evansville North) came away with five points, three rebounds, an assist and a steal.
- Freshman forward Alaina Peetz (Lockport, Ill./Lockport Township) grabbed a team-leading nine rebounds, while adding three assists, three steals, two blocks and two points.
- Senior guard Lia Chudzik (Pewaukee, Wis./Pewaukee) dished out a team-high six assists, with two rebounds and a pair of steals.
Saint Xavier (15-7/11-3 CCAC) makes the short trip to Whiting, Ind. to play Calumet College of St. Joseph (Ind.) in a conference matchup on Saturday, January 31. The game is scheduled for a 1:00 pm tipoff.
