Bafia Stays Hot; SXU Tops Calumet St. Joseph, 69-37

Whiting, Ind. – In a game made up from January 31, sophomore forward Veronica Bafia (Homer Glen, Ill./Lockport Township) scored a game-high 17 points on 7-for-11 shooting, along with seven rebounds, a season-best five steals and an assist to help lead Saint Xavier University women's basketball (17-8, 13-4 CCAC) to a 69-37 victory over Calumet College of St. Joseph (Ind.) in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) action Friday evening in Whiting, Ind. The Cougars were tough defensively, coming away with a season-high 17 steals, a season-best seven blocked shots, and they held their opponent under 40 points for the first time this season. SXU also grabbed 52 rebounds, their second-highest mark of the year, and the third time overall.
  • Freshman guard Julia Benjamin (Glen Ellyn, Ill./Glenbard West) tallied 10 points, her third game with 10 or more points in 2025-26. She added two assists and a pair of rebounds.
  • Freshman forward Alaina Peetz (Lockport, Ill./Lockport Township) recorded eight points, eight rebounds, tied her career-high with five blocks, two assists and two steals.
  • Junior guard Madyson Kibelkis (Peotone, Ill./Peotone) netted eight points with two rebounds and a steal.
  • Freshman guard Brooklynn Johnson (Aurora, Ill./West Aurora) registered six points and five rebounds.
  • Senior guard Jaidn Green (Evansville, Ind./Evansville North) came away with a season-best six assists, along with five points, three rebounds, two steals and a blocked shot.
  • Senior guard Lia Chudzik (Pewaukee, Wis./Pewaukee) scored five points as well, adding four rebounds, three assists and two steals.
  • Sophomore guard Maeve Egan (Chicago, Ill./Mother McAuley) totaled five points, two rebounds and a steal.
  • Redshirt sophomore forward Delaney Panozzo (Grant Park, Ill./Grant Park) hauled in five rebounds with two points.
Saint Xavier (17-8/13-4 CCAC) celebrates 'Senior Day' before they take on Mount Mary University (Wis.) at the Shannon Center on Saturday, February 14. The game is slated for a 1:00 pm start.
