Davenport, Iowa – Redshirt sophomore infielder Jazmyn Casas (Berwyn, Ill./Illinois-Chicago/Taft) totaled six RBI on the day going 5-for-8 at the plate with four runs scored, two double and a triple to help power No. 23 ranked Saint Xavier University softball (2-2/0-0 CCAC) to a pair of victories at the St. Ambrose University (Iowa) Dome Tournament in Davenport, Iowa. Casas homered with five RBI and junior catcher Natalie Johnson (Bourbonnais, Ill./Grand Valley State/Bradley-Bourbonnais) hit a Grand Slam in a 16-3 victory in five innings over Missouri Valley College in game one. Sophomore infielder Danielle Goodman (Poplar Grove, Ill./North Boone) slugged a three-run home run and junior pitcher Lily Strand (Evergreen Park, Ill./Saint Louis/Evergreen Park) tied her career-high with 11 strikeouts in a 7-0 triumph over Clarke University (Iowa) in game two.

Game One:

• Casas was 3-for-4 with a double and three runs scored.
• Johnson finished 1-for-1.
• Senior outfielder Fiona Crane (Evergreen Park, Ill./Northern Illinois/Mother McAuley) tied her single-game school record with five stolen bases, going 3-for-4 with two runs, an RBI and a walk.
• Goodman hit two doubles in three at-bats with an RBI and a run scored.
• Sophomore outfielder Natalie Gomez (Oak Forest, Ill./Lewis/Tinley Park) went 3-for-4 with a stolen base in her debut for the Cougars.
• Junior infielder Yalitza Lovan (Pleasant Hill, Iowa/Dowling Catholic) smacked a two-run double with a run scored.
• Senior designated player Haley Matlock (Indianapolis, Ind./Southport) had a hit in three trips to the plate, scoring twice with a steal.
• Junior infielder Aubrey Wroble (Crown Point, Ind./Crown Point) was 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, a run and a walk.
• Junior pitcher Hailey Wesner (Oak Forest, Ill./Oak Forest) earned the win (1-0) throwing 5.0 innings, allowing seven hits, three earned runs, two walks and seven strikeouts.
• SXU scored seven runs in the top of the 1^st. Casas sliced a two-run double, Johnson belted a Grand Slam for her first home run of the season, and Crane drove in a run on an RBI groundout.
• Casas crushed a two-run home run in the top of the 2^nd to extend the lead to 9-0.
• The Vikings responded with an RBI double and they scored on an error in the bottom of the 2^nd.
• Sophomore outfielder Isabelle Poortenga (Dyer, Ind./Lewis/Lake Central) hit a sacrifice fly in the top of the 3^rd.
• MVC hit an RBI single in the bottom half of the frame.
• Goodman pulled an RBI double to left in the top of the 4^th.
• In the top of the 5^th, junior outfielder Jaelyn Wiers (Morris, Ill./Bethel/Kankakee/Morris) collected her first hit for SXU, an RBI double, junior infielder Yalayzah Lovan (Pleasant Hill, Iowa/Dowling Catholic) hit a pinch-hit RBI single, her twin sister followed with a two-run double and senior infielder Emily Bickett (Plainfield, Ill./South Suburban/Morton/Plainfield South) cracked a pinch-hit RBI single.

Game Two:

• Goodman was 1-for-4.
• Crane finished 3-for-4 with two runs and a stolen base.
• Casas doubled and tripled, going 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI.
• Matlock went 2-for-3 with an RBI, a run and a steal.
• Wroble had two hits in three at-bats with an RBI and a stolen base.
• Senior infielder Mallory O'Connor (Bourbonnais, Ill./Olivet Nazarene/Bishop McNamara) was 2-for-3, collecting an RBI, a run and a walk.
• Strand (1-1) went the distance, tossing 7.0 innings with just three hits and a walk.
• Wroble drove in Crane in a safety squeeze sac bunt and Casas laced an RBI double to put Saint Xavier up 2-0 in the bottom of the 1^st.
• Matlock plated Crane with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the 2^nd.
• Goodman hammered a three-run home run in the bottom of the 3^rd.
• O'Connor sliced an RBI single in the bottom of the 4^th.

No. 23 Saint Xavier (2-2/0-0 CCAC) wraps up play in the St. Ambrose University Dome Tournament on Sunday, February 15. The Cougars play No. 11 Midland University (Neb.) at 1:00 pm, followed by a match-up with Clarke at 3:15 pm.
