Jaidn Green (Evansville, Ind./Evansville North), the Saint Xavier University women's basketball team (18-9, 14-5 CCAC) lost 60-59 to Viterbo University (Wis.) in a Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) road game Wednesday evening at R.W. Beggs, Sr. Gymnasium in La Crosse, Wis. Green played 39 minutes on the night, shooting 7-for-17 with five rebounds and a steal. The Cougars trailed the majority of the contest, rallying from a 12-point deficit, 54-42, at the 9:25 mark of the fourth period with Green scoring seven points in the frame. Sophomore guard
Makayla Kelly (Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln-Way East) sank a three-pointer with 27 seconds to go, after forcing a turnover, freshman guard
Taryn Fisher (Westfield, Ind./Carmel) made a layup with 20 seconds remaining. SXU had two chances for the winning basket in the closing seconds, however both shots were off the mark.
- Freshman guard Brooklynn Johnson (Aurora, Ill./West Aurora) tallied 15 points on 5-for-13 shooting with six rebounds (three offensive) and two steals.
- Sophomore forward Veronica Bafia (Homer Glen, Ill./Lockport Township) came away with eight points, a team-best four steals, an assist and a rebound.
- Kelly collected six points and a pair of rebounds.
- Freshman forward Alaina Peetz (Lockport, Ill./Lockport Township) grabbed a team-leading eight rebounds with five points, a game-best four blocked shots, two steals and an assist while playing all 40 minutes.
- Fisher recorded four points, going 1-for-1 from the field and making both of her free-throw attempts.
- Sophomore guard Maeve Egan (Chicago, Ill./Mother McAuley) logged two assists, two points, a rebound and a steal.
Saint Xavier (18-9/14-5 CCAC) concludes the regular season at University of St. Francis (Ill.) on Saturday, February 21 in Joliet, Ill. The game is scheduled for a 1:00 pm start.
