CHICAGO – Freshman outside hitter
Bernardo Kumm (Santa Cruz do Sul, Brazil/Colegio Maua) collected a match-best, and career-high, 17 kills on a stellar .452 attack percentage (17-3-31), three digs, an assist and a solo block to help lead No. 2 Saint Xavier University men's volleyball (11-2/3-0 CCAC) to a three-set triumph (25-19, 25-20, 25-18) over Trinity Christian College (Ill.) in a Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) contest Monday evening on Bob Hallberg Court at the Shannon Center in Chicago, Ill. The Cougars recorded a team attack percentage of .341 (41-13-82), their sixth consecutive match with an attack percentage of .300 or better. Freshman setter
Mark Gheorghita (Wheaton, Ill./Wheaton Warrenville South) paced the SXU offense with a career-best 37 assists. He also had two digs, two kills and two service aces.
- Freshman outsider hitter Owen Krause (Appleton, Wis./Kimberly) tallied nine kills on a .375 attack percentage (9-3-16) with three digs, two aces, an assist and a block.
- Freshman outside hitter/opposite hitter Marko Skuletic (Belgrade, Serbia/Tair & Belgrade Gymnasium) came away with a career-best six digs, six kills, a career-high four blocks and a service ace.
- Freshman middle blocker Hayden Grange (Mission Viejo, Calif./Trabuco Hills) registered four kills and a pair of aces.
- Freshman middle blocker Nikolay Kotevski (Sofia, Bulgaria/Britanica Park School) totaled a career-high tying five blocks (one solo) and he had three kills.
- Freshman outside hitter Henry Truitt (Glen Ellyn, Ill./Glenbard West) scooped up a career-best, and team-leading, seven digs. He added an assist and a service ace.
- Junior libero Sam Trushel (Dublin, Ohio/Dublin Scioto) equaled his season-high with three digs in the win.
No. 2 Saint Xavier (11-2/3-0 CCAC) travels to Elgin, Ill. to participate in the Judson University (Ill.) Tri-Match on Saturday, February 28. The Cougars play Judson in a CCAC match at 11:00 am, followed by a contest vs. No. 11 Lourdes University (Ohio) at 1:30 pm.
