CHICAGO – Batting a phenomenal .737 (14-for-19) in six games, senior outfielder Haley Matlock (Indianapolis, Ind./Southport) was named the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Softball Player of the Week for the Saint Xavier University softball team (20-9/9-0 CCAC) when the awards were announced by the league office Tuesday morning. Matlock helped the Cougars go 6-0 in conference play, scoring 12 runs with 11 RBI, going 8-for-8 in stolen base attempts, two walks and a double. She also made nine putouts with an assist on 10 chances while patrolling leftfield. It is her first CCAC Player of the Week award.

• Matlock had a hit in four at-bats with an RBI and a stolen base in a 12-0 victory over Trinity Christian College (Ill.) in game one of a doubleheader on Tuesday, March 24. She went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs and a steal in an 18-3 win in game two. Matlock completed the series by going 2-for-3 with two RBI, two runs and a stolen base in a 17-5 triumph at the SXU Softball Field on Wednesday, March 25.
• She did not record an out in the three-game series with Indiana University South Bend. In game one of a doubleheader on Saturday, March 28, Matlock scored four runs with three stolen bases, two RBI and a walk after going 2-for-2 in 10-8 victory. She was 3-for-3 with two RBI and two runs scored in a 12-1 win in the second game. With the series moving to South Bend, Ind., Matlock collected three hits in three at-bats with two runs scored, two steals and an RBI double in a 10-2 triumph.
• Through 28 games this season, she leads the team with a .477 batting average (42-for-88) with 29 runs scored, 24 RBI, is 24-for-25 in stolen base attempts and seven walks. Matlock is No. 2 in the CCAC in batting average, No. 2 in hits with 42, tied for No. 2 in sacrifice flies with two, No. 3 in runs scored, No. 4 in stolen bases, No. 6 in RBI and No. 6 in on-base percentage at .515.

Saint Xavier (20-9/9-0 CCAC) travels to Bourbonnais, Ill. for a seven-inning CCAC contest on Tuesday, March 31. The game is slated for a 2:00 pm first pitch. The series shifts to Chicago, Ill., when the Cougars and Tigers meet up for a doubleheader at the SXU Softball Field on Wednesday, April 1. Game is scheduled for a 2:00 pm first pitch.
