No. 3 Saint Xavier Wins Seventh CCAC Tournament Championship

CHICAGO – For the seventh consecutive season, the No. 3 ranked Saint Xavier University men's volleyball team (28-3/14-0 CCAC) won the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Men's Volleyball Tournament championship after a 3-0 victory (25-19, 25-16, 25-19) over No. 2 seed Governors State University (Ill.) Saturday afternoon on Bob Hallberg Court at the Shannon Center in Chicago, Ill. The Cougars claimed an automatic berth into the 2026 NAIA Men's Volleyball National Championship Tournament that begins on Tuesday, April 28 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. SXU has now was the CCAC Tournament in 2019, 2021-26, excluding the 2020 season as it was canceled due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. It is also the sixth straight season that Saint Xavier has won both the CCAC regular season and tournament championships.

The Cougars tied their season-high with 13.5 blocks, tallying 21 block assists and three solos, equaling their mark of 13.5 blocks vs. Roosevelt University (Ill.) (19 block assists and four solos) on February 10 at the Shannon Center.
  • Graduate student opposite hitter Matt Pennala (Long Beach, Calif./Long Beach City/St. John Bosco) finished with a team-best, and match-high tying, 14 kills on a stellar .407 attack percentage (14-3-27), along with six blocks (one solo), four digs and three assists.
  • Senior middle blocker Tysen Myers (Apple Valley, Minn./Jamestown/Eastview) logged a season-high eight blocks (one solo) while adding eight kills on an impressive .462 attack percentage (8-2-13) and two digs.
  • Junior outside hitter Caydann Cox (Helena, Mont./Jamestown/Jamestown) posted seven kills, four blocks and three digs.
  • Junior opposite hitter/outside hitter Donte Jennings (Spokane Valley, Wash./Morningside/Jamestown/Central Valley) recorded seven kills as well on an efficient .462 attack percentage (7-1-13) and two blocks.
  • Junior setter Cameron Daniels (Omaha, Neb./Millard West) paced the offensive attack with a match-leading 34 assists. He also had a team-high seven digs, three kills and two service aces.
  • Freshman middle blocker Hayden Grange (Mission Viejo, Calif./Trabuco Hills) came away with four blocks (one solo), four kills, three digs and an ace.
  • Senior libero Andres Velez (Toa Baja, Puerto Rico/St. Francis) registered four digs and three assists, while freshman defensive specialist Malachi Seying (St. Louis, Mo./Lutheran South) chipped in three digs.
No. 3 Saint Xavier (28-3/14-0 CCAC) will find out its opponent and seeding in the national tournament when the national office releases the pairings on its YouTube Channel on Tuesday, April 21 at 11:00 am.
