LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Six members of the Saint Xavier University softball team (43-14/26-1 CCAC) were named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Region V Team when the awards were announced Friday afternoon. infielder
Aubrey Wroble (Crown Point, Ind./Crown Point) earned All-Region V First Team for the third consecutive season. Senior outfielder
Fiona Crane (Evergreen Park, Ill./Northern Illinois/Mother McAuley) also repeated as an All-Region V First Team selection. Redshirt sophomore infielder
Jazmyn Casas (Berwyn, Ill./Illinois-Chicago/Taft) and senior infielder
Mallory O'Connor (Bourbonnais, Ill./Olivet Nazarene/Bishop McNamara) were named All-Region V First Team as well. Senior outfielder
Haley Matlock (Indianapolis, Ind./Southport) claimed All-Region V First Team honors after being a Second Team selection last season. Junior pitcher
Lily Strand (Evergreen Park, Ill./Saint Louis/Evergreen Park) was named All-Region V Second Team for the second year in a row.
The five First Team honorees for the Cougars tied with Oklahoma City University (Region III) and University of Science & Arts of Oklahoma (Region IV) for the most First Team picks. SXU, along with OCU and USAO, tied for the most selections with six along with Central Methodist University (Mo.) from Region V and Madonna University (Mich.) from Region VI. Overall, 147 student-athletes from 63 schools were named to the six All-Region squads.
- Casas played in and started all 57 games this season for the Cougars and was named the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Player of the Year. She set the single-season team record for RBIs with 87 and she had the fifth-best single season slugging percentage at .719. Casas batted .404 (69-for-171) and had a .488 on-base percentage. She had the second-best OPS (on-base plus slugging) on the team at 1.207. Casas had 47 runs, 17 doubles, a team-leading 11 home runs and two triples, and collected 123 total bases. Casas drew 23 walks and was hit-by-pitch seven times, and finished 10-for-11 in stolen base attempts. Defensively, she had a .922 fielding percentage of 154 chances with 82 putouts, 60 assists and 12 errors. Casas has helped to turn six double-plays. She was named CCAC Player of the Week three times this season and earned a CCAC Gold Glove at shortstop.
- Crane has also played in and started all 57 games this season. She broke the NAIA single-season record for stolen bases, going 95-for-101. Crane also topped her own school record for runs scored finishing with 79. She is hit .440 (88-for-200) with 29 RBI, 22 walks, a team-high four triples and a pair of doubles. Her 88 hits are second-most in single season team history. Crane tallied 98 total bases and carried an on-base percentage of .502. She had a perfect fielding percentage on 112 chances, making 107 putouts with five assists, as well as being a part of one double-play. Crane won CCAC Player of the Week on February 17, and is also a two-time All-CCAC First Team selection. She also won her second straight CCAC Gold Glove award for her play in center field.
- Matlock played in and started 56 of the team's 57 games this season. She led the team with a .492 batting average (90-for-183) and set the program record for hits in a season. Matlock finished second on the team with 68 runs scored, second most in single season SXU history, and was on the squad in RBIs with 57. She slugged .536 with an on-base percentage of .525 for an OPS of 1.061. Matlock has added 13 walks, six doubles and a triple, while collecting 98 total bases. She was 45-for-47 on stolen base attempts, and has three sacrifice flies. Matlock sported a fielding percentage of .961 in left field on 77 chances. She had 71 putouts, three assists and three errors. Matlock was named CCAC Player of the Week on March 31. She is now a four-time All-CCAC winner, repeating as First Team and a two-time second time pick in 2023 and 2024. Matlock became the first player for Saint Xavier to drive in 50 or more runs and steal 40 or more bases in a season.
- O'Connor played in and started all 57 games this season. She had the best on-base percentage in single season history for the Cougars at .578 and she broke the record for most walks finishing with 38. O'Connor was third on the team in batting at .481 (76-for-158) and had the second-best slugging percentage at .668 for a team-high 1.236 OPS. She also was the team leader in doubles with 19, tied for fifth-most in single-season team history. O'Connor had 46 runs, three triples, and a home run. Her 104 total bases were second-most on the team, her 55 RBIs were second-highest on the squad, and she was 4-for-5 in stolen base attempts. O'Connor has a .991 fielding percentage on 229 chances, making 218 putouts with nine assists and two errors. She has turned a team-best 16 double-plays. O'Connor is now a four-time All-CCAC First Team honoree, doing so twice at Olivet Nazarene University (Ill.) in 2023 and 2024. She won her second consecutive CCAC Gold Glove while playing first base.
- Wroble played in and started all 57 games this season. She had 85 hits, becoming just the second Cougar to record 80 or more hits in back-to-back campaigns along with Hall-of-Famer Colleen Kilduff (2003-06) who was the first to do so in 2003-04. Wroble was second on the team with a .486 batting average (85-for-175) with 67 runs scored and 90 total bases. She drew 32 walks, second-most in single-season team history, for an on-base percentage of .562, and slugged .514 for an OPS of 1.076. Wroble had 27 RBI, two triples and a double. She is just the second SXU player, along with Crane (2025-26), to steal 50 or more bases in a season (54-for-59). Moving from the outfield last year to the infield, Wroble had a fielding percentage of .946 on 149 chances. She had 96 putouts, 45 assists and eight errors, while turning four double-plays. Wroble claimed her third straight All-CCAC First Team award.
- Strand made 33 appearances with 30 starts in the circle this season and was named the CCAC Pitcher of the Year for the second straight season. She led the team with 21 wins, 21-9 overall, 180.2 innings pitched and 139 strikeouts. Strand carried an ERA (earned run average) of 2.60 with 142 hits, 76 runs (67 earned) and 94 walks. She limited opponents to a .219 batting average, with 21 complete games, three shutouts and one save. Strand had a perfect fielding percentage on 41 chances with 32 assists and nine putouts, while helping to turn four double-plays. She earned CCAC Pitcher of the Week four times in 2026, and is now a two-time All-CCAC First Team pick.
