Grand Rapids, Mich. – Senior setter
Abbey Opilka (Dyer, Ind./Hanover Central) recorded her 11
th career double-double, coming away with 16 assists and 10 digs, however, Saint Xavier University women's volleyball (0-3, 0-0 CCAC) lost in three sets to No. 21 ranked Cornerstone University (Mich.) Tuesday evening at the Mol Arena in Grand Rapids, Mich. She also added a pair of service aces for the Cougars. SXU finished the match with season-bests in digs (46), assists (28) and kills (28).
- Freshman middle blocker Addison Hoeniges (Bloomington, Ill./Bloomington Central Catholic) collected a team-leading eight kills on a .412 attack percentage (8-1-17), along with two blocks, an assist and a dig.
- Senior outside hitter Aalyssa Gunn (Orlando, Fla./Trinity Christian/Orlando Christian Prep) tallied six kills and five digs.
- Junior libero Taylor Vann (Oklahoma City, Okla./Bishop McGuinness Catholic) recorded a match-high 14 digs, her third consecutive match with 10 or more digs to start the season, while adding an ace and an assist.
- Senior middle blocker Delaney Panozzo (Grant Park, Ill./Grant Park) finished with five kills, three blocks and two digs.
- Junior outside hitter Laura Ahlstedt (Roselle, Ill./Harper/Lake Park) had five kills as well. She also collected two digs and a block.
- Junior setter Raeley Mungcal (Tinley Park, Ill./Benedictine/Tinley Park) issued a career-high 10 assists with five digs and a service ace.
- Freshman defensive specialist Emma Smola (Tinley Park, Ill./Andrew) dug up a season-high six digs and she had an ace.
- Sophomore right side Ella O'Neill (Orland Park, Ill./Edgewood/Andrew) chipped in three kills and a dig.
Saint Xavier (0-3/0-0 CCAC) participates in the two-day Indiana University Kokomo Tournament that begins on Friday, August 28. The Cougars play No. 17 Aquinas College (Mich.) at 3:30 pm central on Friday, followed by a pair of matches on Saturday when they take on No. 9 Mount Vernon Nazarene University (Ohio) at 8:30 am central and Marian University (Ind.) at 1:00 pm central.
