Natalie Dybas (La Grange, Ill./Lyons Township) equaled her career-high for saves in a match with 19, however the Saint Xavier University women's soccer team (1-5, 0-0 CCAC) lost to NCAA Division I Purdue University Fort Wayne (Ind.) Sunday afternoon at Bruce R. Deaton Memorial Field in Chicago, Ill. Dybas stopped 10 shots in the first half, and she made nine saves in the final 45 minutes. She previously made 19 saves in a match only 11 days ago in a 1-0 setback to No. 19 Spring Arbor University (Mich.). It is the four time this season that Dybas has come away with 10 or more saves in a match. With 76 saves this year, she needs just seven more to set a new single-season high as Dybas made 82 saves a season ago.
- Junior forward Cami Butler (Tinley Park, Ill./Roosevelt/Lincoln-Way East) led SXU with four shot attempts with one shot on goal in 90 minutes of action.
- Senior forward Alex Jonaitis (Naperville, Ill./Naperville Central) played the full 90 minutes, collecting three shots on goal.
- Junior midfielder Keira Campbell (Tempe, Ariz./Yavapai/Corona del Sol) also logged 90 minutes on the pitch, adding a shot on goal.
- The Mastodons scored in the 16th minute off of a cross pass from the right side as the forward raced in from the left to slip a shot past Dybas.
- PFW went up 2-0 in the 42nd minute off a breakaway from 20 yards out. Dybas was able to slow the ball down, however backspin allowed the ball to break the goal line.
- A breakaway in the 83rd minute capped the scoring. A clearing attempt by Saint Xavier was stolen, and Purdue Fort Wayne capitalized as the forward found the back of the net from inside the six-yard box.
Saint Xavier (1-5/0-0 CCAC) begins Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) competition on Wednesday, September 23 when they host University of St. Francis at Deaton Field. The match is set for a 5:00 pm start.
