Bourbonnais, Ill. – Senior forward
Alex Jonaitis (Naperville, Ill./Naperville Central) scored her second goal of the season in a 1-1 draw for Saint Xavier University women's soccer (1-5-2, 0-0-2 CCAC) at Olivet Nazarene University (Ill.) Saturday afternoon in a Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) match in Bourbonnais, Ill. Jonaitis played all 90 minutes, coming away with a team-high four shot attempts. It is the third consecutive meeting between the Cougars and the Tigers that a match ended in a draw after a 0-0 score last season and a 2-2 decision in 2024. - Senior goalkeeper Natalie Dybas (La Grange, Ill./Lyons Township) made four saves for Saint Xavier. It was the first time that she had fewer than six saves in a match this season.
- Junior midfielder Keira Campbell (Tempe, Ariz./Yavapai/Corona del Sol) logged three shot attempts with a team-best two shots on goal in 90 minutes of action.
- Senior midfielder Gema Garibay (Chicago, Ill./Trinity Christian/South Suburban/SIUE/De La Salle) and freshman midfielder Kimberly Carrillo (Chicago, Ill./Hancock College Prep) each had a shot on goal, respectively. Garibay played the full time, while Carrillo was on the pitch for 76 minutes.
- Olivet Nazarene scored the first goal of the match in the 23rd minute.
- Campbell had a shot saved in the 33rd minutes, however the Cougars were able to regain possession, and Jonaitis netted the equalizer just 16 seconds later in the 34th minute. It was the 18th career goal for Jonaitis.
- Dybas stood tall in net in the closing minutes as the Tigers sent five shots her way. Three went wide, a shot hit the post in the 86th minute, and she made her fourth save of the match a minute later.
- With just under a minute left in the match, Jonaitis had a clean look at the goal, but her shot rang of the post to keep the score tied at 1-1.
Saint Xavier (1-5-2/0-0-2 CCAC) continues conference play when they host Calumet College of St. Joseph (Ind.) at Bruce R. Deaton Memorial Field on Tuesday, September 29. The match is set for a 6:00 pm start in Chicago, Ill.
