Abbey Opilka (Dyer, Ind./Hanover Central) logged her fourth double-double of the season with a career-best 43 assists and a career-high 17 digs, however the Saint Xavier University women's volleyball team (0-11, 0-2 CCAC) lost to University of St. Francis (Ill.) in five sets (25-23, 19-25, 29-27, 17-25, 13-15) in a Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) contest Tuesday evening at the Sullivan Center in Joliet, Ill. Addison Hoeniges (Bloomington, Ill./Bloomington Central Catholic) did a little bit of everything for the Cougars, coming away with a season-high 12 kills, seven blocks (three solos), four digs and three service aces.
- Opilka also added a block and a kill.
- Sophomore right side Ella O'Neill (Orland Park, Ill./Edgewood/Andrew) posted a season-high, as well as match-high tying, 15 kills with a block and a dig.
- Senior outside hitter Aalyssa Gunn (Orlando, Fla./Trinity Christian/Orlando Christian Prep) also finished with a season-high in kills with 12. She added four digs and two blocks.
- Senior outside hitter Kaylee Born (Plainfield, Ill./Oswego East) tallied a season-best nine kills with four digs.
- Freshman defensive specialist Emma Smola (Tinley Park, Ill./Andrew) scooped up a season-high 16 digs, adding an ace.
- Junior libero Taylor Vann (Oklahoma City, Okla./Bishop McGuinness Catholic) was also tough defensively, coming away with 15 digs. It was the 10th time in 11 matches that she has had 10 or more digs. Vann also had five assists and a pair of service aces.
- Junior middle blocker Ellie Graf (Loves Park, Ill./Rockford Christian) added three kills, a block and a dig.
- Senior middle blocker Delaney Panozzo (Grant Park, Ill./Grant Park) booked a block and a kill.
- Junior defensive specialist Yuvia Velasquez (Burbank, Ill./Reavis) tallied six digs, while sophomore setter Vianne Villa (Chicago, Ill./St. Laurence) chipped in three assists and two digs.
Saint Xavier (0-11/0-2 CCAC) returns to the Shannon Center to take on Indiana University South Bend in a CCAC match-up on Thursday, September 10. The match is slated for a 7:00 pm first serve.
