Alex Jonaitis (Naperville, Ill./Naperville Central) added in insurance goal late in the contest to help lead Saint Xavier University women's soccer (5-3-3, 3-3-1 CCAC) to a 2-0 victory over Holy Cross College (Ind.) on the road in a Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) matchup in Notre Dame, Ind. Freshman goalkeeper
Natalie Dybas (La Grange, Ill./Lyons Township) was tough in goal, making four saves to earn her fourth shutout of the season and she improves her record to 4-2-2 in net this year.
- Jonaitis finished with a match-high four shot attempts and had three shots on goal.
- Davila made good on her lone shot in 70 minutes of action off the bench.
- Junior forward Esmeralda Diaz (Chicago, Ill./Solorio Academy) had two shot attempts, a shot on goal and assisted on Davila's game-winner.
- Sophomore midfielder Hope Lewis (Auburn, Ind./DeKalb) also had two shot attempts and a shot on goal while playing the full 90 minutes.
- Dybas made all four of her saves in the first half. Although the Saints had five shot attempts in the final 45 minutes, the SXU defense didn't allow any to get through to the freshman keeper.
- Davila netted her third goal of the season to give Saint Xavier the lead in the 52nd minute off a pass from Diaz. For Diaz, it was her second helper of the year.
- Jonaitis recorded her team-high tying fourth goal of the season shortly after reentering the match in the 85th minute to help secure the win.
Saint Xavier (5-3-3/3-3-1 CCAC) hosts Governors State University (Ill.) in a CCAC contest on Tuesday, October 17 at Bruce R. Deaton Memorial Field. The match is slated for a 12:00 pm kickoff.
