Balanced Attack Guides SXU Past Waldorf, 85-57

CHICAGO – 11 players scored at least three points and had a rebound as Saint Xavier University women's basketball (6-6, 4-1 CCAC) closed out the 2023 and non-conference portions of its schedule with an 85-57 victory over Waldorf University (Iowa) Saturday afternoon on Bob Hallberg Court at the Shannon Center in Chicago, Ill. Junior forward Alyssa Crenshaw (Algonquin, Ill./Dundee Crown) led all scorers with 19 points on 5-for-10 shooting, including a 90.0 percent mark from the foul line (9-for-10), along with five rebounds, an assist and a steal for the Cougars. SXU finished with a season-high 85 points, the third time this year that they have eclipsed 80 or more points, and it was the second time this season they had at least 80 points, 40 rebounds, 20 assists and 10 steals in a game, hitting those marks in a victory at Olivet Nazarene University (Ill.) on November 21.
  • Senior guard Bethany Baldwin (Watersmeet, Mich./Finlandia/Triton/Watersmeet) tallied 13 points, seven rebounds, a season-best five steals and an assist in just 16 minutes of action.
  • Sophomore center Eleanor Harris (Downers Grove, Ill./Downers Grove North) recorded her first career double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds. She also had two blocked shots, an assist and a steal in a team-high 32 minutes on the court.
  • Junior guard Jenna Hernandez (Homer Glen, Ill./Joliet Catholic Academy) was 3-for-4 from beyond the arc with nine points and a rebound in 16 minutes off the bench.
  • Freshman forward/center Delaney Panozzo (Grant Park, Ill./Grant Park) posted a career-best eight points on 4-for-5 shooting, with career-highs in blocks (two) and rebounds (two) in just six minutes in the fourth quarter.
  • Freshman guard Emma Clark (Rockton, Ill./Hononegah Community) added six points, a career-best three assists, a rebound and a steal in 12 minutes off the bench.
  • Junior guard Aaliyahna Derrell (Colorado Springs, Colo./Sand Creek) handed out a game-high eight assists, along with four points, two rebounds and a steal.
  • Sophomore guard Jaidn Green (Evansville, Ind./Evansville North) collected four points, three assists, three rebounds and three steals.
  • Sophomore guard Lia Chudzik (Pewaukee, Wis./Pewaukee) registered a season-high four points and a season-best four rebounds, as well as a steal in 19 minutes.
  • Freshman guard Madyson Kibelkis (Peotone, Ill./Peotone) added three points, two rebounds, tied her career-high with two steals and had an assist.
  • Freshman guard Sarah Barakat (Hickory Hills, Ill./Stagg) chipped in three points and an assist, while junior forward Sofie Carr (Indianapolis, Ind./Roncalli) pulled down five rebounds with an assist and a steal.
Saint Xavier (6-6/4-1 CCAC) takes on Roosevelt University (Ill.) in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) action at the Shannon Center on Saturday, January 6. The game is scheduled for a 1:00 pm tipoff.
