Box Score CHICAGO – No. 10 ranked and No. 1 seed Saint Xavier University men's volleyball (22-4/12-1 CCAC) defeated No. 3 Judson University in three sets (25-18, 25-15, 25-22) in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Tournament Championship. It's the fourth time in the last five seasons (2019, 2021, 2022 & 2023) that the Cougars have won the CCAC Tournament and the third consecutive year that they have won both the regular season and tournament titles. The 2020 season was cut short due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. It is also the second straight year the SXU has defeated JU in three sets in the CCAC Tournament Championship. As a team, Saint Xavier finished with a team attack percentage of .494 (47-9-77), the fifth best single-match mark in program history.
With the win, the Cougars earned an automatic bid to the fourth annual NAIA Men's Volleyball National Championship Tournament that begins on Tuesday, April 11. SXU will be making their fourth appearance in the NAIA National Championship Tournament.
- Freshman opposite hitter Oskar Krzyzak (Rzeszow, Poland/Szkota Mistrzostwa Sportowego Rzeszow) posted a match-high 17 kills on a .448 attack percentage (17-4-29) with three digs, two service aces and a block. He also became the eighth player in team history to surpass 300 kills in a season and now ranks No. 6 in single-season history with 314 kills.
- Freshman outside hitter Jan Lopuch (Krakow, Poland/I Liceum Ogolnoksztalcace Sportowe) had 10 kills on a .471 attack percentage (10-2-17) and he added two aces, two digs, an assist and a solo block.
- Junior setter Jason Klein (Oak Park, Ill./Oak Park-River Forest) dished out 40 assists, along with three digs and a block.
- Junior outside hitter Vejas Cuplinskas (Riverside, Ill./Riverside Brookfield) recorded nine kills on a .467 attack percentage (9-2-15) and added six digs and a solo block.
- Junior middle blocker John Glennon (Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln-Way East) registered an attack percentage of .800 on 10 attempts (8-0-10) and had two solo blocks.
- Senior middle blocker Drew Ehlers (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield North) came away with three kills, two blocks, two service aces, an assist and a dig.
- Freshman libero Andres Velez (Toa Baja, Puerto Rico/St. Francis) collected a match-best 10 digs, the 14th time this year that he has had 10 or more digs in a match, and two assists.
No. 10 Saint Xavier (22-4/12-1 CCAC) will find out who they play in pool play at the NAIA Men's Volleyball National Championship Tournament on Monday, April 3. The tournament begins on Tuesday, April 11 at the MidAmerican Energy Company RecPlex in Des Moines, Iowa.
