Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 CHICAGO – The Saint Xavier University softball team (25-11/12-2 CCAC) celebrated 'Senior Day' Saturday afternoon at the SXU Softball Field and all five seniors contributed in a doubleheader sweep of Roosevelt University (Ill.) in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) play in Chicago, Ill. Senior infielder Morgan Haefling (Gilberts, Ill./Hampshire), senior outfielder Nicole Lovato (Channahon, Ill./Minooka Community) and senior outfielder Lyda Robinson (Seneca, Ill./Seneca) each had an RBI and senior outfielder Sarah Bowen (Hampshire, Ill./Hampshire) doubled and scored in 8-0 victory in five innings in game one, while senior pitcher Alyssa Frey (Sheboygan, Wis./Trinity International/Sheboygan South) earned the win in a 2-1 triumph in game two. The five seniors were recognized for the achievements in between games.

Lovato and Robinson became the first pair of teammates at SXU to each have 30 or more stolen bases in a season, as they both now have 30 steals so far this season. They are the only players at Saint Xavier to surpass 30 steals in a season with Robinson swiping 42 bases last season to break the record she set in 2021 when she had 31 steals.

Game One:

• Junior infielder Alexus Reese (Schererville, Ind./Lake Central) was 1-for-1 with a two-run home run and was hit-by-pitch twice.
• Lovato went 2-for-2 with an RBI.
• Robinson finished 2-for-3 with two runs scored, an RBI and a stolen base.
• Freshman designated player Haley Matlock (Indianapolis, Ind./Southport) also was 2-fo-3 with two runs and an RBI.
• Junior pitcher Laila Summers (Joliet, Ill./Providence Catholic) threw a five-hit shutout to run her record to 15-6 after 5.0 innings and two strikeouts.
• Reese cracked a two-run home run over the wall in left center in the bottom of the 1^st, Matlock lined an RBI single and Haefling lashed an RBI double to the gap in left center to give the Cougars a 4-0 lead.
• Freshman infielder Kaitlyn Wright (Chicago, Ill./Marist) hooked an RBI double down the left field line, Robinson lined an RBI single to center, Lovato hit an RBI base hit and Robinson scored on a wild pitch all with two outs in the bottom of the 3^rd.

Game Two:

• Sophomore infielder Abbie Carr (Indianapolis, Ind./Roncalli) hit a two-run single and finished 1-for-2 with a hit-by-pitch.
• Robinson was 2-for-3 with a walk.
• Wright went 2-for-3 with a double.
• Frey (4-1) made the start and went 4.2 innings, allowing seven hits and one run.
• Summers closed out the final 2.1 innings to earn her second save of the year and gave up just one hit.
• Carr pulled a two-out, two-run base hit over the bag at third to score Bowen and Lovato in the bottom of the 1^st.
• The Lakers hit a two-out double in the top of the 5^th to chase Frey, however Summers recorded a lineout to Carr at second base to end the threat.
• After a 14-pitch at-bat that resulted in an infield single in front of home plate by RU, Summers posted outs on a sacrifice bunt, a lineout to right field and a groundout to secure the save.

Saint Xavier (25-11/12-2 CCAC) hosts St. Ambrose University (Iowa) in a CCAC doubleheader on Wednesday, April 19 at the SXU Softball Field. Game one is scheduled for a 3:00 pm start.
