Jenny Jensen (Orland Park, Ill./Cardinal Stritch/Sandburg) each had eight kills, however the Saint Xavier University women's volleyball team (0-4, 0-0 CCAC) lost to Cornerstone University (Mich.) in three sets (20-24, 21-25, 27-29) Tuesday evening at the Mol Arena in Grand Rapids, Mich. Gentile added seven digs, three blocks and an assist, while Jensen finished with three digs and had a .333 attack percentage (8-3-15).
- Freshman setter Abbey Opilka (Dyer, Ind./Hanover Central) posted a double-double with 27 assists and a team-high tying 12 digs. She also had a service ace and a solo block.
- Senior middle blocker Courtney Hunter (Bourbonnais, Ill./Bradley-Bourbonnais) tallied seven kills, a team-best six blocks (two solos) and two digs.
- Freshman outside hitter Kaylee Born (Plainfield, Ill./Oswego East) collected four kills, two blocks and a dig.
- Sophomore middle blocker Nicole Grochola (Burbank, Ill./Reavis) recorded five kills, two digs and a block assist.
- Junior setter/defensive specialist Kaleigh Ritter (Tinley Park, Ill./Lincoln-Way East) came away with 12 digs, six assists and an ace.
- Sophomore defensive specialist Ariel Hoskin (Woodridge, Ill./Downers Grove South) and sophomore defensive specialist Katie DeHaan (Tinley Park, Ill./Andrew) both scooped up eight digs, respectively.
Saint Xavier (0-4/0-0 CCAC) plays in its home opener on Thursday, August 31, when they welcome Indiana University South Bend to the Shannon Center. First serve is scheduled for 7:00 pm.
