CHICAGO – Despite a career-high 13 kills from freshman outside hitter
Kaylee Born (Plainfield, Ill./Oswego East) the Saint Xavier University women's volleyball team (0-5, 0-1 CCAC) lost its Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) opener to Indiana University South Bend in four sets (20-25, 25-23, 14-25, 19-25) Thursday evening at the Shannon Center in Chicago, Ill. Born also added six digs and a service ace for the Cougars.
- Junior opposite hitter Abby Gentile (Blissfield, Mich./Lourdes/Blissfield) posted seven kills, three blocks (two solos) and three digs.
- Senior middle blocker Courtney Hunter (Bourbonnais, Ill./Bradley-Bourbonnais) came away with six kills, five blocks (three solos) and four digs.
- Junior setter/libero Kaleigh Ritter (Tinley Park, Ill./Lincoln-Way East) registered a double-double with 20 assists and a team-high 15 digs. She also added an ace and a kill.
- Sophomore defensive specialist Ariel Hoskin (Woodridge, Ill./Downers Grove South) was tough defensively with 13 digs and she also had three assists.
Saint Xavier (0-5/0-1 CCAC) travels to Sylvania, Ohio to play Lourdes University (Ohio) on Saturday, September 2. The match is slated for a 2:00 pm central start.
