Davenport, Iowa – Despite outshooting their opponent by a 17-10 margin, the Saint Xavier University men's soccer team (3-3-4, 1-2 CCAC) lost to St. Ambrose University (Iowa) by a 2-1 decision Saturday afternoon in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) action in Davenport, Iowa. The Cougars tallied 11 shots in the second half, with junior forward
Pablo Guerrero (Berwyn, Ill./Morton West) netting his first goal of the season but couldn't record the equalizer.
- Junior midfielder Jaedan Aguilera (Belvidere, Ill./Belvidere North) led the offensive attack with seven shot attempts and four shots on goal.
- Senior midfielder Andy Lomeli (Dyer, Ind./Roosevelt/Valparaiso/Lake Central) finished with three shot attempts and had one shot on goal.
- Guerrero had two shots on goal on two attempts.
- Graduate student goalkeeper Andres Zamora (Cicero, Ill./Morton East) tallied three saves for SXU.
- The Fighting Bees scored both of their goals in the first half, striking first in the 35th minute and added another goal just before halftime in the 44th minute.
- Guerrero's goal was setup by freshman midfielder/forward Irving Moreno (Chicago, Ill./Mount Carmel) in the 84th minute. It was Moreno's second assist of the season
- Guerrero had a chance to tie the match in the 87th minute but SAU posted the save.
Saint Xavier (3-3-4/1-2 CCAC) travels to Arlington Heights, Ill. for a CCAC matchup with Roosevelt University (Ill.) on Tuesday, September 26. The match is scheduled for a 7:00 pm kickoff.
