Jaedan Aguilera (Belvidere, Ill./Belvidere North) scored his first goal of the season and it proved to be the game-winner for Saint Xavier University men's soccer (4-3-4, 2-2 CCAC) in a 1-0 road win over Roosevelt University (Ill.) Tuesday evening in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) play at Morris Field in Arlington Heights, Ill. Graduate student goalkeeper
Andres Zamora (Cicero, Ill./Morton East) made four saves for the Cougars to record his third shutout of the season.
- Junior forward Pablo Guerrero (Berwyn, Ill./Morton West) joined Aguilera as the only SXU players to post shots on goal as both tallied one a piece.
- Senior midfielder Fernando Barragan (Burbank, Ill./Moraine Valley/Reavis) and junior forward/midfielder Dorian Mahone (Carol Stream, Ill./Willowbrook) each added a shot attempt, respectively.
- Both teams had strong defensive performances in the first half with the Lakers getting three shot attempts to one by Saint Xavier.
- Aguilera registered the only goal in the contest in the 58th minute.
- Zamora was tough down the stretch, making two of his four second half saves in the final ten minutes to preserve the shutout.
Saint Xavier (4-3-4/2-2 CCAC) returns to Bruce R. Deaton Memorial Field to host Calumet College of St. Joseph (Ind.) on Saturday, September 30 in CCAC action. The match is scheduled for a 2:30 pm start.
