Schreiber Scores for Saint Xavier in 1-1 Draw vs. Fontbonne

CHICAGO – Junior midfielder/forward Louisa Schreiber tallied her second goal of the season for the Saint Xavier University women's soccer (2-0-2, 0-0 CCAC) in a 1-1 draw with NCAA Division III Fontbonne University (Mo.) on a warm Sunday morning at Bruce R. Deaton Memorial Field in Chicago, Ill. It is the first time since the 2007 season that the Cougars have started a season going unbeaten in its first four matches and the fourth time in program history that they have won or tied in four matches to start a campaign along with the 2001 & 2004 squads.
  • Freshman goalkeeper Natalie Dybas (La Grange, Ill./Lyons Township) made three saves and now sports a 2-0-2 record while in goal.
  • Freshman forward Alex Jonaitis (Naperville, Ill./Naperville Central) finished with a match-high six shot attempts and had three shots on goal in 80 minutes of playing time.
  • Schreiber had four shot attempts and her lone shot on goal found the back of the net in 88 minutes on the pitch.
  • Neither team was able to generate an offensive attack in the first half with SXU holding a 6-4 shot advantage in the first 45 minutes and the match was scoreless at halftime.
  • Schreiber broke the tie in the 66th minute after Jonaitis raced in from the right side and found Schreiber in front of the net. Both of Jonaitis' assists this season have resulted in goals for Schreiber.
  • The Griffons recorded the equalizer in the 71st minute on a shot from the right side that went into the lower left corner.
Saint Xavier (2-0-2/0-0 CCAC) returns to action at Bruce R. Deaton Memorial Field on Saturday, September 16 when the host Indiana University Northwest in their Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference opener. The match is scheduled for an 11:00 am start.
