CHICAGO – Freshman forward
James Stevenson (Sun River Terrace, Ill./Momence) scored 21 points while shooting 10-for-15 from the field to help lead Saint Xavier University men's basketball (13-7, 8-4 CCAC) to a 77-64 victory over Governors State University (Ill.) in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) action Saturday afternoon on Bob Hallberg Court at the Shannon Center in Chicago, Ill. It was the second time in the last three games that Stevenson scored 20 or more points and was one point away from tying his career high. He finished the game with career-best eight rebounds, along with a blocked shot. The Cougars celebrated 'Alumni Day' with many former players coming back to support the team.
- Junior forward Andre Brandon (Coralville, Iowa/Sauk Valley/Liberty) was 5-for-10 from the floor with 13 points. He added six rebounds, three assists, a block and a steal.
- Freshman forward Marko Tojagic (Belgrade, Serbia/Saint Andrews) shot at an 80.0 percent clip on five attempts (4-for-5) for 11 points. He also had three rebounds and a steal.
- Senior guard Steven Ukiteyedi (Gaithersburg, Md./Allegheny/UMBC/Quince Orchard) came away with a game-best 10 rebounds, eight points, three assists, a blocked shot and a steal.
- Senior guard Julian Barr (Tinley Park, Ill./Lincoln Land/Lincoln-Way East) tallied eight points, six rebounds, four assists and three steals in his second start of the season.
- Junior guard Sando Hill (Vanoss, Okla./Lyon/Seminole State/Vanoss) collected six points, two assists, two rebounds and a pair of steals.
- Freshman guard Jordan Streeter (Chicago, Ill./Whitney Young) had four points, two assists, a block and a rebound.
- Junior guard Trey Ward (Chicago Ridge, Ill./Oak Lawn Community) registered four rebounds, three points and two assists.
- Redshirt freshman guard Mason Kibelkis (Peotone, Ill./Peotone) added three points, an assist, a rebound and a steal in 22 minutes off the bench.
Saint Xavier (13-7, 8-4 CCAC) takes on Trinity Christian College (Ill.) in a CCAC matchup on Bob Hallberg Court at the Shannon Center on Wednesday, January 31. The game is scheduled for a 7:00 pm start.
