CHICAGO – The Saint Xavier University women's volleyball team (9-9, 5-0 CCAC) improved to 5-0 in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) competition after a three-set victory (25-19, 25-20, 25-22) over St. Ambrose University (Iowa) Tuesday evening on Bob Hallberg Court at the Shannon Center in Chicago, Ill. Kaleigh Ritter (Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln-Way East) handed out a match-best 32 assists, along with 13 digs, two kills, two service aces and a block to help lead the Cougars. Also recording a double-double for SXU was senior outside hitter
Connie LeBel (Crestwood, Ill./DePaul/Ferris State/Mother McAuley), who recorded a match-high 14 kills while adding 12 digs and an ace. Redshirt junior libero
Avanna Martinez (Coamo, Puerto Rico/Colegio Ponceno) came away with a team-leading 16 digs with four assists. The trio swept CCAC Player of the Week honors earlier in the day.
- Fifth-year senior middle blocker Courtney Hunter (Bourbonnais, Ill./Bradley-Bourbonnais) finished with double-digit kills for the sixth consecutive match, collecting 13 on the night. She also had four blocks (three solos) and three digs.
- Junior middle blocker Nicole Grochola (Burbank, Ill./Reavis) had five kills on a .455 attack percentage (5-0-11).
- Freshman middle blocker Carrington Smith (Flossmoor, Ill./Marian Catholic) tallied three kills, two blocks and a dig.
- Junior outside hitter Jenny Jensen (Orland Park, Ill./Cardinal Stritch/Sandburg) registered a pair of kills and dig.
- Freshman defensive specialist Taylor Vann (Oklahoma City, Okla./Bishop McGuinness Catholic) scooped up five digs and redshirt junior setter Samantha Hovey (Mackinaw, Ill./Heartland/Dee-Mack) added four digs and an assist
- Junior defensive specialist Ariel Hoskin (Woodridge, Ill./Downers Grove South) and junior defensive specialist Katie DeHaan (Tinley Park, Ill./Andrew), each recorded three digs, respectively.
Saint Xavier (9-9/5-0 CCAC) takes on Indiana University Northwest in CCAC action at the Shannon Center on Saturday, October 5. The match is set for a 12:00 pm first serve in Chicago, Ill.
