CHICAGO – The Saint Xavier University women's volleyball team (10-9, 6-0 CCAC) defeated Indiana University Northwest in four sets (25-22, 23-25, 25-13, 25-19) in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) action Saturday afternoon on Bob Hallberg Court at the Shannon Center in Chicago, Ill. Kaleigh Ritter (Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln-Way East) extended her double-double streak to four matches after she had a match-best 40 assists and a season-high 26 digs. She now has six double-doubles on the season. Ritter added two blocks, two kills and a service ace. Senior outside hitter
Connie LeBel (Crestwood, Ill./DePaul/Ferris State/Mother McAuley) also came away with her fourth consecutive double-double, scooping up 18 digs and totaling 15 kills, for her team-leading ninth double-double of 2024. LeBel also finished with a season-high six aces, as well as an assist. The Cougars are 6-0 in conference play and move into a tie for the top spot in the CCAC with No. 17 Viterbo University (Wis.).
- Fifth-year senior middle blocker Courtney Hunter (Bourbonnais, Ill./Bradley-Bourbonnais) collected a match-high 17 kills, along with six digs and two blocks (one solo).
- Freshman middle blocker Carrington Smith (Flossmoor, Ill./Marian Catholic) had seven kills with a career-best five digs and a pair of blocks.
- Redshirt junior libero Avanna Martinez (Coamo, Puerto Rico/Colegio Ponceno) was tough defensively as she had 19 digs. She also had six assists and a service ace.
- Junior middle blocker Nicole Grochola (Burbank, Ill./Reavis) registered six kills, two blocks and two digs.
- Junior outside hitter Jenny Jensen (Orland Park, Ill./Cardinal Stritch/Sandburg) posted five kills, two digs and a block.
- Freshman defensive specialist Taylor Vann (Oklahoma City, Okla./Bishop McGuinness Catholic) recorded her eighth double-digit dig effort of the year, finishing with 10.
- Redshirt junior setter Samantha Hovey (Mackinaw, Ill./Heartland/Dee-Mack) recorded five assists, two aces and two digs.
- Junior defensive specialist Katie DeHaan (Tinley Park, Ill./Andrew) chipped in two digs, two service aces, an assist and her first kill of the season.
Saint Xavier (10-9/6-0 CCAC) makes the short trip to Whiting, Ind. to face Calumet College of St. Joseph (Ind.) on Tuesday, October 8. The match is scheduled for a 7:00 pm first serve.
